Non destructive Spot Healing Brush Tool

Another great tool to smooth skin, is the Spot Healing Tool (J)

Press J to select the Spot Healing Brush Tool. Hold Shift and press J if a different healing tool is selected.

Ensure the Mode is Normal, Type is Content Aware and Sample All Layers is selected.

Create a new layer above your image and name it Spot Healing

The trick here is to have patience, use a small brush and build up your healing layer. It also helps to open your image you are working on in a new window, so you can monitor the result in 100% zoom, while you work on the zoomed image (Window -> Arrange -> New Window for xxxxx.psd)

With your brush size just a little bit larger than the 'spots' you are removing, and hardness set to 0%, single click on each part of the image you want to 'heal'. Don't try and draw across the image, as the results will be terrible.

This is a great method for not only perfecting skin, but also for cleaning up old images that sometimes have have dirt/dust marks.
