Camera Raw is one of my favourite plug-ins for Photoshop. There are so many things you can achieve. Here I will show you how to quickly sharpen up an image. Obviously the settings and results will all depend on the original image used. The example I am using is a little blurred and washed out.
Firstly convert your image layer to a Smart Object. This will let you make changes to your Camera Raw settings later, if you need to.

Go to Filter -> Camera Raw Filter (SHIFT + CTRL/CMD / A)
Select the Detail group and increase the sharpening slider up to sharpen the image. Now adjust the Radius and Detail sliders, until the sharpness looks right. You can also now turn up the Noise Reduction slider, to smooth it out a little.

Now you can further enhance the image by selecting the Basic group, and adjusting the Texture and/or Clarity sliders up.

Feel free to play around with the many other adjustments, but hopefully these basic adjustments will help you to start with.
