One does not make like 800 covers with meticulous care for detail and quality out of obligation. This is a labor of love. I don't think you'll stop even if we pester you all day every day. :p

That said, I appreciate you so much for the gift you're giving us. I'm sure those who ask for covers do so out of appreciation for your work. I know from experience, however, how quickly a passion can start to feel like an obligation when outside forces start pressuring you. I think we'll all do well to remember that.

Also, fork off, bootleggers.

Thank you very much, Heartlight.

I struggle to remember that requests are driven by an appreciation of my work and a desire to see more of it. Unfortunately, my jaded, cynical, pessimistic brain interprets requests as "I don't want a cover for Deathstroke, I want a cover for Fear the Walking Dead! Make the cover I want right now!" Just this week, I received a few PM's saying, "When are you doing this? When are you doing that?" I can never make everyone happy.

I upload one cover per week. Maybe it's the cover someone's been waiting for. Maybe the cover they've been waiting for is coming next week, or the following, or a few months down the road. I've got a "To Do List" and I'm slowly scratching things off of it (just as two or three new items take its place). Believe me, I'm aware of almost everything that still needs a cover. If I wasn't uploading so regularly, I could understand the frustration of waiting for that one particular cover that never comes. But I am sharing on a weekly basis, so I just ask for a little bit of patience and understanding as I work my way down the list. I'm doing my best to get to everything while juggling work and family.

There will come a day when this collection finally ends. I don't know when that will be, but I want it be on my own terms. I want to walk away on a high note knowing that I had fun, learned a lot, and shared my love of these comic book properties with others. I don't want to be driven out by pressure, obligation, or frustration. Creating these covers has brought me too much joy to let it end like that. When the times comes, I'd rather ride off into the sunset as opposed to angrily stomping away because of a few bad apples.

With all of that said and out of the way...

Absolutely amazing cover, if we think about it, you are Superman fighting off all the people that keep hounding and harassing you, I love the weekly updates personally, always great to have something to look forward to. As for your list, would love to have a glimpse at what you're planning on as there is probably a lot that most people haven't heard of but really not looking forward to the day when you do finally decide to finish the collection

Sorry boys, but the To-Do List is going to remain highly classified. Here's what has happened every, single, darn time that I have mentioned some of the covers that I'm working on or covers that are coming up... it becomes a promise.

A few years ago, I made an offhand remark in a post about wanting to revise my old covers for the live-action Superman film franchise. And someone (who I won't mention by name.... wowowwwoowoo ;) ;) ;) ) would PM me every couple weeks/months or so to ask when they were going to be uploaded. I was working on them, but they were taking a while... new 3D title treatments, custom keyart working with old photos, colorizing some black and white photos, etc. They were a lot of work. I was also trying to stay on top of new movie covers (Endgame was happening in there too), new shows, new seasons of shows, new animated titles, and so on. I hadn't forgotten about the Superman covers... and a few people would frequently message me as though I had forgotten about my "promise" to them.

In other cases, it's just a matter of "Hey Kernie... this blu-ray exists, why is there not a cover for it yet?" I am aware that Fear the Walking Dead: Season 5 finished airing and is now out on physical media... it's coming. I am aware that Teen Titans Go Vs. Teen Titans came out last fall... it's coming. I know Batman Beyond, Teen Titans (2003), and Wonder Woman ('75) recently got blu-ray upgrades... they're coming. I know Bloodshot was in theaters for a week before COVID forced it to go to streaming and then got a Blu-ray a few weeks ago... it's coming. I know streaming shows like The Boys and Umbrella Academy are in their second seasons and I still haven't done the first... I'm still working on gathering resources... and I haven't even started them yet... but I hope that they will also be coming one day.

Everything you want is on my radar and I hope to provide it. Maybe not today, tomorrow, or next week, month, or year... but I'm trying. One cover per week. Your patience is appreciated.

I also prefer to keep an element of surprise to my contributions. I've thought about releasing a schedule, saying "Cover A uploads on Friday, August 28... Cover B uploads on Friday, Sept. 4." But then do you know what happens? "Kernie, I don't want to wait until then! Upload it now!" A schedule would also be a promise, and I like the flexibility to change my mind, reorganize my "schedule," and post what I want that week.

If you notice, I do try to group my covers as I upload them... for a number of weeks, I was posting the DC TV shows, now I'm on the DC direct-to-video movies. That theme will change again soon.

So to get back to the topic of the To-Do List... hell no, I'm not sharing what's on it. It creates an unintended promise (to some people) that then must be fulfilled immediately. I'd rather not do that.

Sorry for the rant, but perhaps explaining a bit more about my system and my "plan" will help ease your minds. I have a system, I have a plan, I have a list, and you'll just have to wait and see what comes next! I appreciate your patience and trust! :D :D :D

As stated above, Bloodshot is coming. Can't say exactly when though.

Kernie's Weekly Cover Update #27: Batman: Death in the Family!
[Click image to view in gallery]

Available on Blu-ray & Digital on October 13, 2020. I've provided 4K and DVD covers as well, although I'm not sure if there will be a separate release in these formats.

Batman: Death in the Family (2020) - 4K Ultra HD Edition

Batman: Death in the Family (2020) - DVD Edition

And since this new "interactive movie" (however that's going to work) is cobbled together from old animation from the 2010 animated movie Batman: Under the Red Hood and some new animation, I decided to update my old Red Hood covers to serve as a companion to Death in the Family. A new 4K cover has also been added (although I'm not sure if it is getting a 4K release, just preparing if it eventually does).

Batman: Under the Red Hood (2010) - 4K Ultra HD Edition

Enjoy! See you next week! :D :D :D
