wow it just amazes me how ive seen you take almost any image and make something amazing outta of it. similar to what you did with G.I. Joe Extreme. It seems even when the odds are stacked against you for a cover you manage to create some spectacular.

I love seeing the behind the scenes work that goes into making these covers. I think people need to see it as it shows what a production each cover is to make. It's not just a click and paste thing to do and people need to understand what a time consuming and labor of love it is for you. Especially with a growing family and work.

I was fascinated reading about the work that went into that smiley face alone. As someone who can't even draw a stick figure with a ruler, I can only assume you are a wizard. Keep up the amazing work, love to see the results even for the movies/shows I've never seen!

Thank you very much to VincentLupo, cas, garsted, RRJR84, TJettman, and Predator Ranger!

I am glad to know that there is interest in the "behind-the-scenes" posts. I will try to continue to do them. I might not do it for every cover, because there's not always a lot to say about some of them, but whenever I feel there are little things to point out.

I'm more than happy to spend a few extra minutes putting together some "making of" images now that I know there are people who appreciate them. More importantly, I hope that some insight into my process might inspire others and help them to learn a few new tricks for their own purposes. Maybe something I'm doing will give someone else an idea that they hadn't previously thought about. That's ultimately the goal of sharing these inside looks.

Thanks again and now, on to this week's cover!

Kernie's Weekly Cover Update #22: Stargirl!
[Click image to view in gallery]

I haven't gotten around to watching this show yet, but I hope to binge the whole thing once the full season finishes airing in a few weeks. Official physical release is slated for September 29 in the US.

This cover was actually a lot of fun to work on. Good high-quality images to work with (always a plus), a fun color palette, and a lot of just happy accidents that made this design come together rather quickly. I always enjoy when a design falls together and just works without having to struggle too much with it. That's what happened here with Stargirl.

While there's not much to show off in a behind-the-scenes post for this one, I'll probably post a few little insights within the next few days. There is some subtle re-coloring and adjustments that could probably be pointed out.

Enjoy and see you soon! Any guesses for next week? But please, don't mention stars and/or wars! :D :D :D

A fantastic addition, I watched the first 3 episodes and loved this show, but wanted to wait until there were more to watch as 1 episode a week just wasn't enough, now that it's up to episode 10, I might continue over the weekend as there's a break in Formula 1 for a week, again, truly stunning work

Great work yet again! Nice and fresh. Love the colours, and as always looking forward to the ‘behind the scenes’ part.
I was really impressed how you put that last watchmen cover for the tv show together. Excellent, just excellent!

Wow, love this one! I really like the star on the back with the honeycomb texture in the centre to match the suit and the TT on the front looks awesome, I like that the red matches the gloves/belt.

Great work!
