This one is a very simple trick to reduce file size of your PSD files.
As you can see from the image below the file size of my Arrival cover is 293.05mb.

Now if you simply add a solid colour either by a solid colour adjustment layer, a new layer and fill it with a colour using the paint bucket, however you like to add a solid colour and save the file.

Now, if you take a look at the file size, you can see it has been reduced by 14.79mb - it’s not a lot for one file but it can add up if you have a lot of PSD files, your results may vary as well.

I think it’s to do with the preview/thumbnail of the PSD, if you use Adobe Bridge you would have a preview of what the cover looks like but if you have a blank layer or even if you just turn off all the layers it doesn’t have any detail to show in the thumbnail/preview so the file size is reduced.Speedz0r wrote:QUOTE (Speedz0r @ Jul 3 2020, 09:19 PM) Hm, really weird considering your adding one extra layer (even tho it's solid white) would have thought the size would only be bigger. Nice hidden tip tho sauron![]()
Yeah i would think that must be the reason too. I just have PSD icons on my covers tho, so no previews in windows at least.sauron wrote:QUOTE (sauron @ Jul 3 2020, 10:12 PM) I think it’s to do with the preview/thumbnail of the PSD, if you use Adobe Bridge you would have a preview of what the cover looks like but if you have a blank layer or even if you just turn off all the layers it doesn’t have any detail to show in the thumbnail/preview so the file size is reduced.

Please keep my covers on this site and this site only!

Ah I use Adobe Bridge so I can see the previews and I must admit I rarely save my PSD files with a blank layer as I like to see the previewsSpeedz0r wrote:QUOTE (Speedz0r @ Jul 4 2020, 10:11 AM) Yeah i would think that must be the reason too.
