100% the black one it fits better with the front.
I do feel you need to do something to fill the gap... how about having the city background that’s on the front on the back?
I’ve never seen the film but I do feel having that shape on the back makes it very hard to get a good layout as the synopsis text looks very crammed in the small space it has... I personally would use that shape (if it’s significant to the movie) as something that sits to the left of special features or even the stills border but smaller.

I think the front motive is great. Is it a finished design or did you do it?
In any case, the black version. Don't even know how to come up with the idea to put the red version for diposition at all.

Hey, the reason why the maroon showed up my wife thought more color would look better haha, so I indulged and she was happy, seems black is the sure winner though.
I fixed the hyphenated synopsis and I added more to the back to fill the dead space now. Thoughts?

I liked it better without the duplicated graphics from the front, for me it's way too busy back there now, the space does not bother me.
If you do go down this road I'd remove that fade line at the bottom and put a hard edge there, like a divider bar in the same color as the frame maybe.
If it were me adding something I'd go the accent route, more along this line.

Yeah, from the beginning I didn't have much plans for that area I'm always open for suggestions and willing to try and get what people think. All in all I think both are good some will prefer the more going on in the back and some would prefer the lesser. I could always offer both version and let the people choose which one they prefer the work is done already haha, but I still appreciated all the suggestions and opinions that were given.
