The front cover has really been bugging me. When I started, it seemed like good idea and looked cool. But now hate it. So I was browsing some covers and saw the Godzilla covers done by falle and got me thinking of going that route since I couldn't fill the space without cropping a lot of the artwork.

I searched online and found some gorilla hair backgrounds. I made up 2 variations. One left the art intact and used the hair for side panels. The other I shrunk the art and framed it, leaving the title and actor names on outside.

As much as I hated to shrink the artwork that much, I really like it overall! I have not done any tweaking yet. Will plan on brightening up the title a bit and shrinking it down as well.

Let me know what you think about this direction for the front. Thanks!

Due to size, I am posting separately. Here is first one:

Working with option A. I like it much better. I adjusted levels on front background, artwork and title. Changed up the back layout. I keep looking at other covers to get ideas and then looked at stuff I had saved on my computer and found something to work. I like the layout much better now.

But rather the front isn't.

You should like the result of course so you can do whatever you prefer. But your front is really far away from being working. As it was mentioned before Curt made a good suggestion how it could work with your two original artworks. Why you don't give it a try?

Thanks for the feedback!

Fidi - I know I was dead set on using both pieces of artwork in the beginning. But after everyone's feedback, I chose to go a different route and use different artwork for each of the movies. The artwork I had in the beginning is now being used for the 1976 version. I then found some art for Kong Skull Island. For the 1933 KK, I used some commercial art I found. Overall, the layout is the same for all 4 titles.

I am glad you guys have pushed me out of my comfort zone and do something that is not cookie-cutter. Now I just need to add the synopsis and bonus and see how it looks.

I must concur with my friend Fidi on this becasue I'm not overly fond of the fur myself.

I was not too keen on the film strips either, maybe continue to experiment and find another direction perhaps?

Course it's your cover and if you like it then it's fine becasue it does not need to please me :)

I do appreciate your opinion and everyone elses. Not everyone likes the same things. I just try to take it all in and come up with something nice that I like and hopefully others will too.

I've added the synopsis and bonus content. So much closer to being finished. But now the border on top & bottom of movie stills look odd. SO have to tweak that. Other than that, I am really happy with the way it turned out. Plus it goes with the set.

Looking good :) And you are correct, we all like different things and have different opinions. The main thing is, that you are happy with how it looks.
