I am working on all 4 Kong covers at same time so there is consistency in layout design. The ratios of the artwork pieces do not fit cover without cropping top and/or bottom. So I chose to make a border on the sides. I still need to add actor names. On the back, I still need to add synopsis and bonus material and then decide what I want in background. Does look better than what I had before IMO.

It’s getting there, I would try adjusting the colours of the names on the front and 2005 on the spine, something less eye catching - maybe white could work or one of the colours one the title.
I would also play with curves or levels to adjust the front image it’s very dull at the moment compared to the still on the back.

I changed the font color of actor names on front. I also adjusted brightness & contrast on front image. I am still on the fence regarding the film strips on sides. The more I look at it, the less I like. I need something bordering the sides and NOT top & bottom. Font color of year on spine changed as well.
Back is getting there. Still have to play around a bit. If I lighten up the background too much, it doesn't look right. But much better than what I started with!

Bazzah - what do you mean by "adjust the curves".
Curves or levels. You can adjust the image so the blacks are darker or lighter. Depending on what software you are using, of course
