King Kong (2005)
I agree with ctaulbee. You might wanna try and use only around 3 different fonts at max. Looks like you have at least 6 different fonts on your version, which really doesn't "help" the cover. If you really wanna have Peter Jackson above the title, then you should make the title smaller and/or move it down a bit more, to create more breathing space at the top. Not sure if you've managed to check out some of our templates, but you should consider making some "safe zone" guide lines. What I mean by that is that you make sure that you have some space around the edges of the cover. Right now it doesn't take a lot for someone to cut away some of the synopsis on the back if they wanted to use this cover.

Please keep my covers on this site and this site only!

Thanks for the input guys! I do like ctaulbee's mock-up as well. I don't like to be normal and like to think outside the box. You guys have helped get me thinking. I am thinking of not using both pieces of artwork on this cover. My idea now is use one for the 2005 version and the other for the 1976 version. Since Kong fights a dinosaur in 2005, I will use that artwork on the front and use the current front for the '76 cover. As for the 1933 version and the newest Kong: Skull Island, I will do more searching to find suitable artwork. I think I will make my own template (taking ideas from you guys) for the back and use it for all 4 covers to have consistency.
I will get back to it this weekend. I've spent the past couple days with doctor visits and getting CT & MRI. I find working on covers is good therapy. Once I get started, hours go by without realizing it!

Thanks! I've already had 2 back surgeries. The hardware they installed the first time has been broken since last Feb. They installed new screws from the front last Dec and I am still having severe nerve pain when standing. The new scans shows that the broken hardware (that was not removed) has been shifting and is may be what is causing the pain. So, a 3rd surgery on the back is now required. Also have shoulder pain which may be rotor cuff. I am falling apart! Sucks getting old! LOL
Again, making covers is good therapy. Helps take my mind off things and it gives me good feeling when I get compliments on my work and see that they are being downloaded. I am glad to have found this site with other members that are helpful to everyone and keep it going. I remember getting started with Dagen's Den back in the day. Then R1DB came along, but there isn't much going on there anymore. Covers are still being uploaded there but as far as a community, it's non-existant. I am hoping to purchase full access here soon.

During my search, I found a 3rd painting of King Kong done by Ken Kelly. But, he is fighting a leopard. So I don't think it will work with any of the movies. I love Ken Kelly's work! He has also done a lot of Conan work. So, I will eventually use his work for some Conan covers as well.
