As Sauron said, you are making life very difficult for yourself by using that image on the back. Unless you are just looking at making a minimalistic cover. But even then, you need to have some information somewhere
I would also play around with the levels etc, to make it pop a little more....

If they are from 1991 I'm assuming they are based on the movie from 1976, so maybe make a cover for that movie instead? As the other's said, you are not making things easier for yourself using that image on the back. In order for it to be a cover it has to have certain information on it, preferably a template. I think you should take a look in the gallery so you get a feel on how covers are organized and what information is needed on them. You could always use the "new" back image as an alternative front.

Thanks for the comments. I did think of that after I posted it. I have a bad habit of doing things before thinking them through! LOL
I wanted to work on it this weekend. But I had a triple hernia surgery 2 days ago. So sitting in front of the computer feeling dopey for hours is not my idea of fun! LOL
I jumped back into the cover today. Worked on the front. I worked on TT and think I got it to point I like. I like the lighter green to give it a pop, and leaving the bottom half darker with a red tint. I also added the stars names to bottom of cover. One possible change I am considering is moving the title down just a tad and adding "Peter Jackson's" above it. It makes sense, as there are multiple King Kong movies.
Will work on spine next before moving on to the back, which will be very time consuming!

Did a little more work today. I reworked the cast names on front and added "Peter Jackson's" above title.
Also worked on spine. I used some different artwork that was possibility for back cover. It does look better than just plain black.
Back cover - For the moment, I am keeping the artwork I originally wanted (yes, I'm stubborn!). I will wait and see how it all comes together once the rest of the elements are in place: synopsis, film shots, and bonus. For the bonus, I think I will keep it generic since they may vary from different versions out there.

I think that if you are going to keep this artwork on the back, then you should just add minimal information on the back. Otherwise it is going to look really over crowded. Also if this artwork is from the 1976 version, why don't you make it a cover for that film?
Yeah I'm sorry, but I can't see the relevance between the artwork and the movie it's "supposed" to be from. The artwork you are using was made years before the movie you are making this cover for was made. In order for a cover to be approved it has to follow some standards, I'm afraid it might get rejected if there's not enough relevance to the original film. It would look great as slip-cases tho or on the inside of the cover, but atm as a cover, I'm not too sure about it.
