Thanks for all the help everyone!

Unfortunately I could only find two images of the dad. The one I used and the other one bojka used on his front cover so I didn't want to use it if I didn't have to.

After all the suggestions this is what I have come up with. Also started on the spine.

Maybe try the title at the top behind her head, might need to move the keyart down a little.

It looks pretty empty up there with just one little name and everything else bunched up at the bottom.

Plus if your going with dk red on the title contrast will be better on the light background anyway...

I like the idea of the title at the top :)

You could also adjust the curves a little, to make it pop some more. And maybe a little colour adjustment on the skin. And maybe add some smoke/debris between the characters?

Moved the title, added a few adjustment layers, added more smoke/fire/debris and then used camera raw filter for more vibrance and contrast.

Excellent work, looks a lot better now imo. I still think you can reduce the shadows a little under Shadow/Highlights (shadow +20ish), add a curve and/or add some exposure and gamma correction.

Thanks. The adjustments you made look great! I will try those and work on the back some.

I'd consider adding a bg behind the tag so you can get away from the white text, this way you could go back to the two tone tag line, maybe change Jennifer's name to Dk Brown as well?

Example:

or a bar

[attachment=40630:peppermint.jpg]

or something else...

:)
