I recently started ti collect VHS movies. I know, WHY.. I love the way they display, and I love the old artwork. Also it takes me back in time to a simpler time :)

So What I would like to do is print some custom VHS covers for movie collections that have continued past the VHS Lifespan. Like, I want to record the new star wars films on VHS, and design VHS boxes to match the set of the older films I have. Same with Mission Impossible. lol You get my drift.

Anyway I'm having a hard time finding a proper template. Anyone know of one? Also would you want me to upload these designs to the site? or leave them as far away as possible. HAHAHA

My current collection below. I will replace messed up ones as I find better ones in thrift stores.

I don't know where one might find a template for that at myself.

But on the subject of VHS.

I've seen some novel VHS covers that actually contain DVD's or Blu-ray's housed inside a "vhs cassette styled box" inside the outer sleeve.

Netflix released Stranger Things 4K UHD via a Target Exclusive using this concept:

It wouldn't be too difficult making a template. Start off measuring the covers you have, then designing a blank outlined box, marking the spine and outside with a thin black line. Cut it up, and see how it fits in the VHS case. You can then adjust it as necessary until you get it right, without wasting too much ink.

Could take a old sleeve and open it up along the glue line then measure it?

This is from a packaging manufacture site, I'd say at the very least it will be a good starting point AI and EPS files included.

I was going to suggest the same as the guys above, taking apart an extra case you have on hand and measuring the dimensions, but Googling "vhs box template" it seems like you can save yourself a step:

Depending on your printer/paper size, you may want to separate the template into two pieces, as it just barely misses fitting comfortably within 8.5" x 11".

It is the same concept as custom DVD and Bluray slip covers, isn't it? Where they have to be glued together.
