I'm not on pace to maintain my status and soon will be demoted, only saying this cause it is going to happen, unless a miracle happens and I churn out a load of covers in the next month or two, that won't happen..
I'm the slowest cover maker in the world as you already know and to be honest I just can't keep up the numbers required to have the points up.
Sure, yes I know full well that to pretty much everyone else that 8 covers a year is a very very low number and you probably don't understand how someone cannot keep up that little requirement, well I struggle to do that.
For instance I thought I'd attempt a cover for the latest HRC, 1 week into the time frame I finally decide what movie I'll do, another week later I'm working on the front, this week I think I have got the front pretty much done...The comp is well and truly into voting and I have a front, maybe..My 'creative' process is like a snail, design ideas don't come to me quickly, I have to sit and think and look and think for a long long time before I get any idea of where to start and usually when one part is done this whole process begins again with the next part, I only tell this because it helps highlight my slowness, and I apologize as well 'cause I do feel bad at how slow and unproductive I am.
I guess I've also lost some desire to make covers for one reason and another, this reason and that.
I was slow before when I was keen, now I just struggle to get motivated, usually open photoshop 20 times and close it 2 hours later having done nothing. It's sitting open right now and I'm just thinking about closing it cause it's using resource just sitting there..
I'll have to re-prove myself if I want to get back, I doubt that's going to happen, so I may pop up in a comment once in a while, but even if not I'll keep visiting and seeing what's going on and what you guys are up to.
I might even make the odd thing here and there, and I know it will have to go through the process and be approved, or not.
Anyway thanks to all who have supported me over the years and of late that has been Curt, many thanks mate for everything, you're a good friend and a huge asset to the cover community!
Also thanks to everyone who has downloaded something I've done, I truly appreciate it.
Cover making was a way I found to engage my interest in graphics and computers and I've loved it all, I still do even if it doesn't sound that way, but if a hobby starts to feel a bit like a job then that's not good, I always looked forward to each night after work spending an hour or 2 or 3 working on a cover in some way, these days I've been thinking, hmmmm I have to open PS and do something or I'll loose my position, so I HAVE to get something done, finished, uploaded and then I HAVE to start something right away so I don't get that WARN up in the corner again....I can't fight the WARN anymore...
You might also be wondering why I even wrote and posted this 'cause only a handful of people on the site know me, and that's really just a quick post in each others thread to say good job etc, I wrote it and posted it mainly just for myself, don't worry I won't feel bad if there is zero replies, haha..
Cheers

Always a pleasure to see a new cover form you Dave, pressure does take the fun out of it, perhaps with less of that you'll be more inclined to work on new projects.
We will of course always be delighted to see you about in whatever capacity suits you.
As I'm sure you know by now if you need anything just ask.

Some of this site's most valuable members have lost Contributor status, so you would be in good company if that happens.
It's exciting to see new covers from you, but your friends here are happy to see you regardless of whether you have a new cover to post or not, so go at a pace that makes you comfortable and lets you enjoy your creative process.

If it takes you a while to get a cover you're happy with then that's just how you work and feel comfortable doing it, some of the best artists take ages on their work and that's only because they want it to be perfect and to their standards... absolutely nothing wrong with that
It's always great seeing new work from you and I look forward to seeing what you have in the future or what's on your PS right now

Thank you all so much guys
A really nice way to wake up this morning and see what you wrote in here, I truly mean that, I feel great, thank you, shows what a great place Hi Res is....Feeling inspired!
Got a busy day so have to get going but I wanted to thank you all
Curt, indeed I do know that my friend and if I need to pester you I won't hesitate
Vincent, I want to have fun again and like the little engine that could, I think I can
Baz and Fidi, thank you both I really appreciate your kind words, and I think I might be able to do some labels, that's a really good idea Baz, I'm pretty sure I have most of my PSD files so yeah there's a good chance of that mate.
BD, sauron, Demonolgy, I love everything you guys do and have done, and will do, to read your comments is awesome
Good to have friends in a good place that you can lean on when you need to
Everything you have all said is of course 100% correct and I know I said it already but I really do appreciate you all popping in here and taking the time. Makes a guy feel a bit warm and fuzzy inside
I respect you all and your work and have always aspired to get somewhere remotely close to your skills.
