In honor of Batman v Superman (which I liked, but didn't love), I decided to rework a set of covers that I have never been happy with... the Batman films.

These were the first live-action covers in the Comic Book Collection, which originally started as a DC/Marvel animated cover set. As a result of being the first, the template was still being refined and I hadn't quite figured out how to handle the live-action titles. I never felt that my original covers for these films did them much justice (no pun intended).

In addition, there was no consistency in the retail and publicity materials for the Burton/Schumacher Bat-films. The title fonts changed from film to film (with the exception of Forever and Robin). The batsuits, emblems, Batmobile, and even actors changed from one film to another. The 1989 original was marketed solely on the Bat emblem, while Returns' imagery was dark and gothic, and the Schumacher films were candy-coated neon colors. Needless to say, designing a consistent set from such inconsistent materials was difficult. But I've aimed to rectify all that with this update to those covers. Hopefully nobody misses the originals too much! :p

I also intend to rework the Nolan Bat-films as some point in the near future, as my original covers lumped all the bat-films into one color scheme and style. I hope to distinguish the Burton/Schumacher films from the Nolan ones with these revisions.

And a look at the keyart for the films (which I'm tempted to slap into some minimalist covers with emblem on front cover/keyart on back a la steelbook designs)...

I hope you enjoy! :D :D :D

I'd love to see those printed! In fact, and I know you don't share (for valid reasons that we talked already), I'd give my blu-ray versions of the movies to have my hands on those! Simply amazing Andrew! This is just another reason that proves why you and Tim are my favourites designers!

On a side note, as soon as i have my new office ready, i'll show you your covers printed near this beauty :D

Oh wow those look amazing now, much much nicer than the originals, new logo's and TT's, I liked these covers before, but now fantasic, the keyart looks great in those four panels, would love larger versions to print out and frame

:award: :award: :award:

Now to download and admire even more

EDIT: The Spine TT's look much better now, more defined, you've also lightened the base background so you can see the comic book panels and added new bats

You know your going to have to update the Nolan Trilogy now, as they suffer from the dark base background also (don't shout at me) If you do could I ask that you define the spine TT more as at the moment on a printed version due to the dark base background they blend in and you can't see the title very well :thumb: :thumb: (again don't shout at me)

Really well done on the updates, love em

2nd EDIT: Oh you already mentioned that you will work on the Nolan Trilogy at some point lol
My Bad, or not reading your description, but.... I was distracted by the new covers :yourock:

Thanks Arkflip, sauron, BajeeZa, Darksaber, and cas! Glad you like the new versions of the Batman covers! And yes, Darksaber... Nolan Bat-films are being revised as well... no worries about being distracted and missing that note! :D :D : D

Finally! Full episode lists were finally revealed for Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, iZombie, and Walking Dead... allowing me to finish these covers.

Legends of Tomorrow: Season 1
Already renewed for Season 2. This is my least favorite DC show of the four that I watch (Supergirl, Flash, Arrow, Legends), but I still find it entertaining. I've had this cover made since before the show started, but just had to wait on that episode list. The title treatment is also custom, which took a while to recreate, but I think it came out well.

Supergirl: Season 1
Not yet renewed for Season 2, but I think its extremely likely. This is actually my favorite DC show of the season (Flash previously held that title, but has gotten a bit convoluted this season with all the Zoom/Multiverse stuff). It can be corny and girly at times, but the handling of Martian Manhunter is so awesome that it makes up for the few shortcomings. It's bright, fun, optimistic and everything Supergirl should be (as opposed to Superman's portrayal in BvS). I'm also developing such a crush on Melissa Benoist.

iZombie: Season 2
Also renewed for Season 3. I don't watch this show, so I don't really have anything to say about it. Seems fun and quirky. Rose McIver looks cute.

The Walking Dead: Season 6
Also renewed for Season 7. The rollercoaster nature of the show continues. Sometimes it's great, sometimes its boring, dull, and directionless. The Alexandria Safe Zone stuff has reinvigorated the show a bit for me, and the looming threat of Negan has given some great momentum to recent episodes. Hoping the payoff to the excellent buildup doesn't disappoint (although it probably will, like it usually does).

I've also decided to fully embrace the "flying V" layout for a lot of my covers. I just noticed it was becoming a trend, but it's an arrangement that works well with the "tears" in the template and I think it's a good way to feature a lot of characters on each cover. Hopefully others like it as well. I won't do it all the time, only when the resources and style make it somewhat appropriate.

Enjoy! :D :D :D
