Adding a small download requirement to the criteria would be an inexact but stat-based way of confirming someone has uploaded covers which other people found useful or interesting. Whether a cover needs 3-5 downloads in order to qualify or a designer needs 30-50 downloads total, either would help confirm actual Contribution.

If you subtract views by people in this thread, MrxxXXXxx likely has fewer than 5 downloads total so far.

That's a very good point Tim and one easy enough to track :)

wont 1 on 1 just mean the gallery gets filled quicker with tat. hell if i was told 1 on 1 and i could get away with two posters and synopsis or even a label that just consists of a poter, even if the whole cuts off the main characters head, then id be banging out tat by the bucket load to get free covers. Hey NR, and before you say it my stuff aint that bad

Well personally el I am suitably impressed that somehow you knew I'd be reading this post :) And it ain't even anything to do with cricket!
No you're covers ain't that bad, they're actually pretty bloody good m8, tho no matter what you say about tat, your pride in your quality of work would never let you do that, unless we're talking about your actual job of course?
It's all uphill til you get to the top

So you all know. We are working now on improving the contributor system, to take into account the points that have been made in this thread. We will update you when we have made the changes.

However, I would like you to reconsider your existing vote choice, taking into consideration the current prove yourself rules. If you have voted no, or not yet, and would like to change your vote in accordance with the existing rules, please let me know. It would not be fair to deny MrxxXXXxx because of rules that do not currently exist.

Thank you all for your input on contributions, hopefully we will develop a system that will work much better and give you all more say in contributors :D

Please change my vote to "Yes." You're right, it would be unfair to deny him based on non-existent rules.

Although I think we should strongly encourage him to use WIP or put more effort into future uploads. His current work is the definition of "bare minimum."

If the statement is that Contributor status is not subjective or based on quality, these threads are just variations on a math check that 8 x 3 still equals 24.

He appears to have accidentally uploaded one file twice:
http://www.hirescovers.net/gallery/display....php?pid=120724
http://www.hirescovers.net/gallery/display....php?pid=120723

Excluding that, he has 6 items in the cover gallery and 6 items in the label gallery.
If the poll question were to become "Does 18 + 6 = 24?", I'd vote Yes.

I hope he will thrive upon being given access to the additional materials here.

Thanks Tim. I have removed his duplicate label. And yes, his total count of labels and covers comes to 24 :)

I think we can upgrade MrxxXXXxx. I understand some of you may not think it is right, but according to the current rules he should be accepted.

Thank you for all taking the time to share your opinions :) And if you have any more suggestions about contributors, please let us know!

Well then I'm one of the two left which say no.
After reading Tim's last post I had to smile a bit, I hope I got it right...

I totally understand the arguments which say he should be promoted to contributor. He did nothing wrong, 24 points, I know.

But I still think one or two posters combined in 3171*1763px resolution and some text layers added is not near anything, a custom cover is about.
So I still keep my voting "no".

And I really hope we will find a solution for this problem. (Nearly) all proving myself threads in the last month's were the same. We've discussed it, adviced the new contributor to use our WIP section and... nothing happened.

I know my covers are fare away from being perfect as well but to be honest, the uploads MrxxXXXxx made are some of the worst I've ever seen. That's the first reason I've voted no.

He is a user of a German site which is closed now since some weeks. It was a cover site that uploaded scans of original covers, very bad self-made covers and stolen covers (some from here as well). If I'm not wrong, he was a really active user there. I'm not 100% sure, but that's the second reason.
