I think the red is when Ultron takes over the drone, the last image you posted is from the end of the film when Vision is talking to the last drone, who is controlled by Ultron, or Utron is using it's body, before Vision destroys it.

The image above that is again Ultron taking over the drone, if you look at the drone behind it has blue eyes

It's probably so the audience can see the difference between a normal Drone and a Drone that has been taken over by Ultron

Edit
I like the blue drones better :)

The red ones seem more aggressive and menacing which works with the explosive scene you have going ;)

I believe I'm right though, the Drones do have Blue "Lights", It's only when Ultron controls the Drone the lights are red, anyhow the majority of the Drones have Blue light

The only time you see a scene like Kernie has created is when the drones are trying to get to the core, and they still all have blue light

Okay, Darksaber... you've made your point and I believe you are correct.

The Ultron drones have the capability of being either blue or red, depending on their link to Ultron Prime. Ultron Prime is always red, to the best of my recollection. That much is established in the film. It's not like I'm trying to make them green or purple, which is something that has not been established. However, what the film does not address is what happens to Ultron Prime when he is controlling a drone... does Ultron Prime then turn blue? Can Ultron Prime control multiple drones at one time, turning them all red? These answers are unclear and thus, my image of all red drones is not impossible or disproven by the events in the film.

I suppose the real question now is... what works better for my design?

I find the blue on the drones to distract from Ultron Prime... my eyes go right to the drones instead of to Ultron himself. I also feel the blue breaks from the color palette of the back design and "cools down" an image that is meant to be fiery, menacing, and threatening.

If I indeed go with the red, I apologize to everyone who feels it ruins the cover. :D

Do with what you like my friend, it's your own design :) It's impossible to enjoy everyone cause everyone have different opinion on design. For my part i like red for all you said ! Anyway very nice job sir :D

Whether red or blue, it's an outstanding piece of work yet again!

My comment was about what I "liked" and what I thought "worked best" in the design.

I can't speak to which color is technically correct as I don't read comics nor have I seen this film yet.

:)

Yup, what shoty said :) Your cover, your design! I think design wise the all red looks better, as for technicalities, I do not have a clue :D

So I say, go with all red as it looks good, it is correct colouring and you prefer it
