Introducing Nightrider

The cover World Stuff

Where did your nickname come from?
Always been a bit of a night owl, mainly due to the hours I worked, getting home late and funny enough my ISP at the time came out with a new plan where you got free access between midnight and 6am (we paid hourly for our net use way back then) and they called it the nightrider plan, so when I was trying to think of a ‘cool’ nickname …LOL…I just suddenly thought Nightrider suits me cause I was always online at night. So I went with it and here we are.
What part of the world do you come from?
Born in London England, family moved to Australia when I was 4 years old, think it was April 1969
What got you into designing covers in the first place?
I was always interested in drawing but not being very original I used to copy superheroes from the comics into my sketch pads, mainly the DC ones, Superman , Batman, all the Justice League, also used to do Star Wars figures and ships and ships from Star Trek, once I got a PC and got online one day I searched graphics/ custom graphics and found Generetic saw what was being done and was amazed, right there and then I knew I wanted to try and do something like what those guys were doing, and am still trying!
Is there anyone on the cover making scene that has inspired you?
From those early days I was inspired by great artists corr me and Supreme Taco, then Half-Breed, easylife, venome, Lulu and over the last couple of years wysmommy, JR , kernie, voetz, BPMford
What would be your best advice to any up and coming designer?
Listen to the guys who know what they are talking about, don’t take criticism to personally :) look at covers of the top designers and of designers you personally admire, ask questions, and if you have to, ask them again. Pay as much attention to detail as YOU can and let your own style develop

Great interview, Dave!

St. Andrews -is that in Scotland by any chance?
A designer knows he has achieved perfection - not when there's nothing left to add - but when there's nothing left to take away
