Hi All,
Thanks for your comments so far. I've listened and adapted and here is an updated cover having taken these comments on board. Technically it's a much better cover now but I think I've somehow lost the overall feel of the first draft.
:chin: Still not quite happy with it so more input would be much appreciated.
Cheers

Please, could you not upload the fullsize cover here? Please use the site preview, and just crop out a section of the full cover in full resolution, and post that too as an example.
I like this improvement in layout, but I think 3 basically identical images looks boring. (Front, top back right pic, and top left back pic are all versions of Pitt and Forlani standing next to eachother.)
Oh, and I'd have the credit block ABOVE the logo section.

Gotcha JR, that the image is bigger than it is supposed to be on this thread but I'm not sure I understood the rest. :S
And yes, it's boring with those three similar images isn't it, you're right. The whole thing is a bit dull actually. The background image on the back page goes really well with the quote so even though I don't particularly like that picture, I think I need something similar if I am to keep the quote. That picture is an iconic image but certainly wasn't good enough for the front. I don't like my covers to stray too far from the promotional imagery - the poster art. Custom but not too custom - personal preference, that's all.
Also, the back is the back and the front is the front! As a poster I'd say two of them need to go but one image on the back, loosely similar to the front, I think is OK. In other words: The third one definitely needs to go! I think I was mesmerised by Claire Forlani's beautiful face, but that's the sort of focus I need from the WIP thread, so thank you.

Layout looks a lot better now! Have you tried the synopsis in white? Also maybe move the specs down and bring the credits above the specs?[/quote]
Cheers Sauron, Now I've darkened the whole cover, white text does look better, thanks. With this particular design, I think I agree that the credit block probably would look better above but within my own collection I want to see uniformity and usually prefer to have images fading through the Spec and credits at the bottom. So it's staying there for now but maybe I'll duplicate it and upload one with credits above instead once it's finished.
Cheers all,
Ichy

So, I'm assuming now that by 'preview' you mean use the Photoshop attachment in the WIP rules. But I'm not using Photoshop, nor anything compatible and respectfully, that's not going to change so we'll just pass on that one. I can reduce the file size but only by reducing the ppi so please don't moan that it's now unclear, I'm only trying to follow your instructions. Here are three images then - none full size but the other two enlarged at least:-
So here's a full page (with really nasty definition) - a bigger image of front cover showing a graining effect (which now occurs over most of the cover btw) - and a alternate credit position, which I'm sure you'll all prefer (but feels really odd to me but only because it now doesn't match all my other covers).
Trying to please

Cheers V,
Actually, most covers nowadays at least, are joint UK & Ireland covers so I like to have both certificates too. It was rated 12 in UK and 15 in Ireland and I use both as a guide for my kids to help me tell if a film is borderline one way or another. The two bodies rate different things differently. Ireland is much more relaxed about violence and language, but much stricter on s3x, religion and abortion, for example. So often a 15 in the UK can be a 12, 15 or 18 in Ireland. So if a movie is a UK 15, I bar my kids from it if its 18 in Ireland but let them see it when it's 12 in Ireland, and if its 15 in both my rule is: dad watches it first and then decides. That'll evolve as they get older for sure but for now it's a huge help having both ratings (they're 11 & 9 and the rules here say they can see 12s if I accompany them at the cinema - up to me at home of course but its a good guide). Another nugget of semi-usefulness from Ichy!
I'll definitely use the certification text though, nice one!
Cheers for your time
