I'm not sure if I want the banner to read "Collector's Edition" or not. It made more sense with the comic-book style of The Incredibles, but I'm not sure if it's as relevant on Brave.
I suppose I could just consider this entire series of covers to be "Collector's Editions," sort of like how my Comic Collection says "Special Edition" when I don't have anything better to put in the bottom banner.
Any ideas on something else to put there or should I leave it as Collector's Edition? (Keep in mind that whatever I put there has to work for all the films in the Pixar catalog)Last edited by Kernie on Mon Aug 05, 2013 2:41 am, edited 1 time in total.

Ha ha.. I assumed so, but thanks for clarifying!
Glad you like the banner... it came out looking better than I expected. I've built a career on happy accidents like that!![]()

I love it - But as you said, the banner worked better on your Incredibles cover. The new banner with the crest is looking totally wicked (as could be expected from you) but could also work on the back for the SFs. What do you think?
The toned down effect on Merida looks much better now IMO. - and I like the slightly angled TTs work (also for this title) too, as NR mentioned.
Keep up the inspiring work!

Are you suggesting that I don't use the banner as a consistent element on all covers?
I am planning to incorporate the scroll on the back somehow, just not quite sure how yet.
The tricky part is deciding what to keep and what to leave, since whatever I keep will be something that needs to be continued through the rest of the collection (although modified somewhat to fit each film).

Any suggestions for alternate text besides "Collector's Edition?" Something more appropriate for Brave perhaps? Keeping in mind that it would then be something that needs changing on all covers.Last edited by Kernie on Tue Aug 06, 2013 12:19 am, edited 1 time in total.
I was one of the persons that "requested" a collection for the Pixar movies 'cause i now you'll do a smashing collection for the title. But i don't think the Brave title is working like that. Probably i'm alone but i think a normal 2D title could work better. Love the light treatment, never thought on that for my Brave cover, so nice addition Kernie.
If you're still looking for an alternate text maybe the tagline "Change your fate."? I used a quote for my front but i now you're not a fan of that. Here's my cover just in case you wanna check something. Please don't get offended with me posting a link here, it's not my intention to hijack your thread

Sorry to disagree with you, Arky (as I typically agree with you), but I'm going to have to emphatically state my utter satisfaction and fondness for the 3D title treatment.
Here is a side-by-side comparison, using your suggestion of a more 2D title...
[attachment=26494:brave_title_001.jpg]
- To start, I love the amount of depth in the 3D title. It feels like a cavern that Merida would want to explore.
- The depth provides some dark hues and shadows that would be lost if changed to the 2D version. These dark areas along the top of the cover balance the dark areas created by Merida's cloak along the bottom of the cover.
- I'm very proud of the way I was able to blend the engravings from the original 2D TT with my own 3D version. I would absolutely hate to lose that... essentially making it just the retail TT with little customization by me (and of course, I'm known for my custom TT's).
- Pixar's films are all three-dimensional computer-animated movies. Plus, many of them have been released in 3D. Why not reflect the technology used to make the film by using a 3D TT?
- The Incredibles title has the same angle, depth, and basic beveled style. I was hoping to make this a consistent aspect of all covers in the series.
- I think the 3D TT looks MUCH cooler.
I'd understand if my use of the 3D TT sours your interest in this title and the whole collection, but I hope you can understand my intentions.

I will try how the banner looks with "Change your fate" and see if I like it. Thanks for the suggestion! (You're right about me not wanting to use a quote there... I'm saving the quotes for the top of the back cover).

What say you all... generic Collector's Edition text or Change Your Fate (tagline)? Whichever way I go, it will continue this way for the rest of the series (I think I can keep Incredibles with Collector's Edition as it fits the "comic book" motif). You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.Last edited by Kernie on Tue Aug 06, 2013 1:38 am, edited 1 time in total.
