Star Wars I-II-III-IV-V-VI
Alright, so I haven't got anything to show just yet, but have a few ideas lined up in my head.
First of all, I'm not gonna be using any floating-head dvd artwork, any of the official posters or doing any custom movie poster. What I will be doing however, is to have a cover corresponding to a character of said entry in the saga.
I do want some help right now. I want to determine who has the main role or a big role in each movie.
My own idea:
I - Obi-Wan Kenobi or Qui-Gon Jin
II - Anakin Skywalker or Obi-Wan Kenobi
III - Yoda or Anakin Skywalker
IV - Luke Skywalker
V - Boba Fett or Darth Vader
VI - Han Solo
Help is needed!

Damn, and I thought the dust had settled after Matush's legendary Star Wars, and that I could start a Star Wars (Box Collection) cover quietly and unnoticed.... I guess good movies attract good designers!
Well I think
1) young Anakin DV shadow poster
2) Young Obi-Wan
3) Yoda/Windu
4) Luke
5) DV
6) The Emperor
Oh, and found this one while scrounging for artwork...

Skar, really haven't gotten anything to show just yet.
When I do Star Wars covers, I usually draw them on paper before I start in Photoshop. That way I can make sense of it, before "wasting" time doing something not working. Plus drawing is fun!
From 2006 to 2008 I made a total of 136 Star Wars covers, and only 7 of them are uploaded here. The rest were uploaded to my own website, but since I closed it down in 2008, barely any of the covers survived and now I have nothing. Right now I am literally looking every corner of the web to find everything graphic related to Star Wars, so I can continue my mission.
JR, I know, Matush's covers are amazing. I really wanted to use those, but since they aren't complete, I have to be creative myself - we can do rock-paper-scissor to see who can start their SW creations
JK! I think you should go ahead as well. Can't have too many SW covers!

136 covers on star wars only, wow, that is dedication! shame you have so few left, that could be cool to see ideas and evolution!!!
anyway, it's always nice to see new creation on this series, even i also think Matush's work is epic, as you say looking for creativity.
PS: star wars covers... done!!

Either way I think of this, I just can't win! I really want the characters to resemble the movie title and I also want the characters only to appear once in the series.
I - Darth Maul
II - Jango Fett
III - Darth Sidious
IV - Luke Skywalker
V - Darth Vader
VI - Luke Skywalker
Now I could change Darth Vader for Boba Fett for V and change VI's Luke for Vader, but it would seem weird to have Boba on V, right? Also, while thinking about the movie titles, I don't know if I put too much into this, but thought that Phantom Menace could mean more than just the mysterious Sith Lord. I now think that it's referring to Young Anakin, because he was a threat they couldn't see (entirely) at the time. Then surely, he could also pose the front for I, right?
Unfortunately my ideas keep Han Solo out of the covers.
Another idea I had was this,
I - Qui-Gon Jin
II - Obi-Wan Kenobi
III - Anakin Skywalker
IV - Luke Skywalker
V - Yoda
VI - Darth Vader
Just can't seem to get it right

Pictures will come tomorrow

A belated update.
I have had so many ideas now, that I will make a lot (A LOT) of Star Wars covers. First of all, I would like to continue this set, naturally.
After some input by SW fans, we've agreed to make the prequel covers concentrate on the rise and fall of Anakin Skywalker and the original trilogy will feature Luke's transformation from a young Jedi to a Master. For the first three, I've picked out my character shots, tweaked them, but still need to cut out around the hair.

I still have yet to do something for V and VI.
Of course, their back won't be white. I have planned to use some imagery from the particular movies to each cover.
I will feature some sort of Tatooine scenery, II will feature the Clone Wars, III will feature some Mustafar shots, IV will probably be a dogfight in space or Tatooine, V will feature a nice foggy Dagobah scene and I'm not quite sure on VI.
I know I don't have much to show for now, but the ball is rolling

That sounds like a really solid idea. The films' and characters' styling is different enough in each installment that it won't look repetitive, and the list you've been figuring out for who to feature on the fronts can perhaps instead be the basis of who will "star" on each back.
On backgrounds for VI, maybe Endor or inside the Death Star would be fitting?
