I have just read the Hires Newsletter, and in particular the BR write-up.
I must say that I am very flattered.
There is some truth in all of it…. words like; strange, artist, and show-off…all apply to me in some-way-shape-or-form. :D

If I’m honest, I have never really been a proper cover artist like most of you guys. I only made covers in the past because it gave me a great feeling of self satisfaction as well as somewhere to hang out for a bit of a laugh with a great bunch of people. Baz can tell you all about our past antics when forum banter came first and actually making covers took second place. :yellow:

About 3 years ago I gave up Photoshop and got into 3D digital art and actually became pretty good at it. Then about 10 months ago I got the urge to start up the Cover Art side again.
The problem I faced was, having to relearn the skills required to make a half decent cover in short I had to begin at the beginning! Purchasing new PS software, trying to remember resource site names, templates, logo’s, plus dozens of other things before I could even begin to make a few very dodgy covers. :cussing:
On my return the first thing I noticed were all the new artist names….and, how their designs had drastically changed the face of Cover Art to such a level I actually felt a complete amateur. I have nothing but admiration for these “new names”…and I enjoy seeing them do their stuff, because watching their work will hopefully go some way to improve my own.

The fact that I was even thought of as being a BR competitor hopeful was down to CT asking if I would like to represent EFX. Personally speaking if I were CT, I would not have asked me!! So, there we have it, and as CT once said to me; “Faith of Sages”. :arms:

Listen guys I know there is a lot of debate regarding the BR result and I accept the fact that there were many outstanding covers entered and with just the odd point here or there it could have gone any-which-way, but I am immensely chuffed at winning and very proud of the fact that I was representing EFX as a team member alongside two other great artists…..nobody could have been more surprised than me at the outcome.
I can tell you all right now that I do not remotely think that “I have got-one-over on anybody else”, or that I think, “look at me…..I am a fantastic artist” because I know full well my own limitations…….In this case I was just lucky enough to get a judge with a very shaky hand!

But, boy am I one happy bunny....(sorry Tim, no pun intended) :babydance:

My thanks and good wishes to everyone.

Great to have you back piggy! :flypig:

I loved your entry, and you're more than worthy of the honors, Sir!

I for one do not think any of the artists feel they have one over anyone else. One thing about the cover community, is it is a very friendly place to be, and I am sure all artists involved are happy to see you win, and be back on the scene.

Maybe it is time we started some of 'those threads' again for old times sake! haha

You are a true artist Kyl. Loved your cover from the start. It's very worthy the BR3 honor.

I'm Happy! I'm Happy

to be in that cover community
to think artists around do not think they have one over anyone else
to see Kylumi's return
to see him win, but everybody has (even they think they haven't)
to be happy
to have a bunny avatar, it's fashionnable at this time!!!

A realistic story of a true artist, nice to read some background information.

This site and others & this Battle Royale competition have the same common ground; a diverse group of design amatures/professionals from all over the world who all share the same interest/hobby. I am proud to be part of this friendly community!

The show is yours this time, Kylumi ! :youdaman:
