I know I might get crucified for this, but I never really cared for any Superman film, from Donner's original through Singer's Returns.

I can't deny the impact the first film had in legitimizing the superhero genre and steering it away from the 60s camp adaptations. Without Superman, we might not be where we are today, with comic book adaptations dominating Hollywood. But that doesn't change the fact that I just can't get into these movies for some reason. Reeves was perfect in the role, but Luthor was a joke and some of the plot turns (turning back time, memory-erasing kisses, Fortress love-making, etc.) were just eye-rollingly bad.

Sorry to go off on a rant in your thread, JR... you covers for this series are turning out great and I'm glad you're trying something different by using the less-popular artwork. It's definitely setting your set apart! :D :D :D

Yea well they were kinda lil bit funny, a lil bit over the top, a lil bit not so greatly written, and one or 2 characters not so great, but the ONE thing I will NEVER forgot is the tagline YOU WILL BELIEVE A MAN CAN FLY, cause when I saw Superman, forget the story, actors etc (hated Margot Kidder) I DID believe a man could fly, it was awesome!
Could be the best most truest tagline accurate ever!

And I agree Christopher Reeve was perfect, him in Superman today would rock..Fingers crossed for the new one.
