The Avengers: The Ultimate SHIELD Archive

So I know I already did a cover for The Avengers for my Comic Book Collection, but as soon as I finished it, I had this sense of "that's it?" All of these years of build-up and anticipation for what is essentially the first major "crossover" in the history of blockbuster cinema, and it's just another cover in my Comic Collection template. I still had an itch that needed scratching...

With that in mind, I started on this... The Avengers: The Ultimate Collection. This is not just a cover for The Avengers, but for all of the films in Marvel's Cinematic Universe... Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, and Captain America: The First Avenger... hence the inclusion of characters like War Machine and Jane Foster (who, as far as we currently know, do NOT appear in The Avengers).

Because I'm aiming for this to be the ultimate Ultimate Collection, I'm also trying to please the fans by giving them some things that the studio marketing has been failing to do.

First off... the HELMETS. Notice how Iron Man's wearing his? That's because we know Robert Downey Jr. is underneath and we don't need to see the face behind the helmet-less Iron Man to know who the star of the film is.

Second, Thor is wearing his classic helmet as well, which I was able to Photoshop onto him from that lone Thor poster that featured the helmet.

Finally, Captain America is currently missing from this design. He will go between Iron Man and Thor... where he belongs... LEADING the Avengers (and of course, he'll be wearing his mask as well... because the fans don't need to see Chris Evans' face either).

Problem is... I need a good Captain America image. Venome - I noticed you uploaded some great transparent PNG's of some Avengers characters (a SUPREME THANK YOU for those, by the way)... any chance you've got a Cap one floating around? The image I need is one of Cap standing proud and tall (I don't have much room horizontally to fit him into the layout). Perhaps the one of him from the Avengers poster, and I can Photoshop the mask onto him? I'd be extremely grateful to anyone who is able to help me out in this department!

Also, if anyone has a textless version of the Agent Coulson poster, that'd be awesome as well!!

Besides all that rambling above... what do you think?

i'm already in aw, don't know what else to but i can't wait and i hope u do a dvd version. im wanna print this just to put it in a picture frame lol, fantastic job so far, i'm super curious as to how the back will play out.

I'm planning to do both Blu-ray and DVD versions, with varying spine widths to accommodate all the discs that need to fit inside.

For the back... I'm thinking... the villains?

@ filmaddict... thanks for the links! Venome hooked me up with a PNG file of the Cap pose from that one poster. Maybe I work the other image into his lower body? :chin:

@ venome... THANK YOU very much for the Cap PNG! Any other elements from the layered poster that I mind find useful? Debris, smoke trails, etc.? Or maybe a vector version of the title treatment?

Here's an update... and NO... Cap didn't have his legs amputated... I just couldn't find good legs for him yet. This is just to get an idea of his placement... is it working???

I'm a little unsure on ironmans hand at the moment, should it be so big in comparison to cap a considering it's behind him? :S

How would it look with just Natalie Portman, Cobie Smulders, and Scarlett Johansson on the front?

The idea of creating a design for all of the films is awesome. I had something similar in mind, but this will definitely blow it out of the water, looking great already.

Since the front bottom is a little bare, perhaps Captain America would work well down further? That'd allow you to give him a lot of prominence without covering up the others so much (especially Hulk), plus, it'd fill up some of the bottom, unless you're saving that for something like a film listing or cool sparks, etc.

And the Captain seems just a bit too bright and saturated compared to the rest of the team.

But anyway, you're no stranger to greatness, and it this is set to follow strongly in that tradition.
