JR, I'll make sure to pop in on your threads and tell you how much I don't like the show/movie you're doing a cover for... really helps to motivate me to work harder on this cover... :( :(

BTW, True Blood (while enough to hold my attention) is way more boring (and mostly an excuse for softcore p0rn) than Buffy ever was. Walking Dead, however, had a great trial run of 6 episodes, but has yet to prove if it can maintain that quality (especially with all of the behind-the-scenes issues that are popping up for Season 2).

I watched Buffy as a teenager, and maybe I'd think differently had I watched it now for the first time, but I really enjoyed the show in its earlier seasons and think Angel's show vastly improved as it went.

Sorry that you didn't like it, but please don't knock it while I'm trying to make a cover for it. You have a right to your opinion, but your post made it sound like I'm a giggly teenage girl for liking this show (despite your brief compliment at the end). It really hurt my ambition to keep going... :( A little more feedback on how to improve my design would be most appreciated... thanks. :D

All right Andrew... I wasn't trying to make you not want to make a cover for this show - you like it, that's all the valid reason you need to continue.

I'm sorry my small comment on the show brought you down. That wasn't my intention, but you made the disclaimer yourself in your first thread. That's your opinion, mine's different that's all :)

We're all just movie-buffs here - we share the infatuation with movies. But since we are many, our tastes won't always be the same. You can't expect every comment to be Ooooohs and Aaaaahs over your work. And I'm not saying that to bring you down even further, I'm just saying it.

I have a hard time finding a flaw so far, hence the non-existing comments on how you can improve what you have so far. :) The only minor thing I noticed was the bevel on the TT, which IMHO could be lessened. Still, that's just my opinion.

If you still want to swing by and tell me how much you loathe the Coen films I'm doing covers for, be my guest. That won't change the fact that I wanna do covers for them.

I appreciate the reply, JR (and I was joking about mocking your covers in your thread, I would never do that), and I understand that everyone has their own preference, that's totally cool...

Thing is, this is a WIP to help the designer improve his/her design, not a forum to discuss whether or not we like the movie/show that the cover is based on. You're entitled to your opinion about Buffy, but that doesn't help my design to improve, and that's what I'm looking for here... Whether you like Buffy or don't... help me with my design... that's the point of this thread.

I'm not looking for Ooohs and Aaaahs... I'm looking for input from other designers. Too often, all my WIPs get are ooohs and aaahs... which is nice, but it doesn't challenge me to make a better piece of artwork. If there's something that doesn't look right or can be made better, I want to hear it, I may be defensive about my original design choices, but I want to hear constructive feedback. Look back at RRJR's suggestion and how it made my design better... it challenged my original decision, and because he did, I'm happier with the artwork because I realized his suggestion was the better move.

Thank you for pointing out something with the bevel on the TT, the TT is temporary for placement, I'm going to do a better one soon.

I'm personally very satisfied with front and the TT although i'm not nearly as experienced as 98% of you I like how the bevel the makes the TT pop more.

As for the back If you could some generic vampires for the show maybe that might be good or you could always spot light Buffy and the big bad on the back of each cover. it's your call but i think something along those lines would work well.

What is it that bugs you about the vampire? Do you think it actually looks better without him?

If you can explain why it bothers you, it might lead to changing the cover for the better? :D

I think it grabs my attention at first glance more than anything else on the cover, but on the other hand the other version feels too empty. I haven't watched the series but if he's a pretty important character I guess it works out well. Or maybe I'm just being too picky :D

Okay, so I dropped the opacity on the Master (the vampire in the top left corner) down to about 75%. I think this makes him stand out less, but still keeps him there to fill that space.

I also did the TT the way I was originally intending to do it, which should alleviate concerns about the bevel on the old version of the TT.

Just got back from a long weekend, so I didn't have time to add any more characters to the front yet (although there aren't many to chose from for S1 and it's hard to find good images). I have some ideas for the spine/back, which isn't quite what RRJR suggested, but we'll see how things turn out. Right now, I want to get the front keyart settled, once I have all the characters in their proper place, I can work on switching them out for later seasons.

What do you think?

I think adding Jenny Calendar (Janna Kalderash) to the right of Joyce Summers (her left) or between Joyce and Willow (second choice) would round out Season 1 nicely

Thanks for the suggestion, batboy! :D

I'm trying to fit her in, but I can't find a good picture of her to save my life. She'll probably go to the left of Principal Snyder, since putting her next to Joyce would make the right side too "girl heavy." I'm trying to put a female next to Snyder and a male (human or monster) next to Joyce, to stagger things a bit.

So I need a good pic of Jenny Calendar, and some sort of male character/demon/vampire/whatever for next to Joyce, and I think the S1 keyart should be finished.

Any thoughts on the Master or the TT?
