The Comic Book Collection by Kernie
Here's what happens when you put together all of the aforementioned Avengers posters... SWEET!

And... how friggin' awesome was Captain America???
SPOILERS BELOW... don't read if you haven't seen Cap yet!
I loved all the subtle (and not-so-subtle) references to the other Marvel films. From Thor... the Tree of Life on the wall when Red Skull finds the Cosmic Cube, the mention that it was the "jewel" of Odin's treasure room, and the wormhole that evaporates Red Skull. The inclusion of Howard Stark and the 40's Stark Expo from Iron Man. Even Rogers' agility and movement was reminiscent of when Blonsky used the formula in Incredible Hulk. And, of course, the last minute appearance of Nick Fury and the post-credits Avengers trailer!
I also dug the use of the "traditional" Cap uniform and his job as mascot for USO shows and war bonds, which certainly mirrors the original, real-life usage of the Captain America character during WWII (down to including "clips" from Cap film serials). This added a nice touch of "reality" to the film without betraying the continuity of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
And who do you think supercute Amanda Righetti is playing in both Cap and Avengers? She's the SHIELD agent that enters the room just as Rogers reawakens in present-day New York. My guess is, due to her hair-color resemblance 40's Peggy Carter, she will be playing Peggy's niece (and comic book SHIELD agent) Sharon Carter in Avengers.
I'm so super-excited for Avengers (and the Blu-rays of Cap and Thor, so that I can have Marvel Movie Universe marathons)!!

Totally agreed! Gave some nice historical accuracy in a fiction film, though most viewers will probably think it's just part of the movie. Another nice easter egg was when Cap chases down the guy that blew the lab and uses a taxi door as a shield, from a taxi company called "Lucky Star" with a red star on it.
What did you think about the teaser at the end? I'm upset they didn't show Hulk, but at least we got a few glimpses at the new outfitsThank god this is the last film before The Avengers cause I can't take any more teasing!
Loved the teaser for Avengers!!
I heard a bunch of people as I left the theater complaining about not seeing the Hulk in the preview. I honestly couldn't care less about his exclusion (we do see Banner briefly, though)... we know Hulk is in the film and I wasn't about to gripe about the fact that my own eyeballs just witnessed a friggin' TEASER TRAILER for an Avengers movie! Not only is that cause for celebration, but the fact that Marvel was smart enough to plan ahead and establish the Avengers universe in separate character films, well... that's just awesome.
Fortunately, for us and for Marvel Studios, not a single one of the standalone films was a complete dud (sure, Incredible Hulk underperformed at the Box Office, but I blame the bad taste from Ang Lee's Hulk on that one and the film does receive a decent appreciation from fans).
If I'd have to rank them, I'd put the "Marvel Universe" films in this order...
1. Iron Man (got the ball rolling and did a lot of things right to establish the universe and carry over to the later films)
2. Captain America (although this may top Iron Man on future viewings)
3. Thor (although future viewings could change this placement)
4. Incredible Hulk (the overly CGI end fight weakens it, but this was a great Hulk flick and a VAST improvement over Ang Lee's)
5. Iron Man 2 (Rourke's Whiplash and a feeling of "treading water" until Avengers knocks this down a peg).
Don't get me wrong, I love all 5 films so far, but some are just a bit better than others...
C'mon, Apple Trailers or Yahoo... release an HD web version of that Avengers teaser!! I want to watch it on loop 50 times!
EDIT: Someone should make covers for each of the individual films using the banner poster above, would be a sweet "spanning cover" set!!

And I loved Hulk, I'm disappointed it didn't do too well in the box office (I myself missed it in theaters back in Uruguay, it only showed for 2 weeks there

). I re-watched Iron Man 2 last week and though its not terrible its definitely the weakest entry so far.

Might take you up on that if I find some hi-res textless versions! If that doesn't make my shelf worth looking at I don't know what will!

I'd love to see you do a WIP for it!! (or heck, I'd even be willing to collaborate on it if you'd want to).
And remember... I get 30% of all the profits you receive from said covers, for being your inspiration!:P
You could go:
Black Widow (Iron Man 2)
Iron Man (Iron Man 1)
Hulk (Incredible Hulk)
Cap (Captain America: The First Avenger)
Thor (Thor)
Hawkeye (The Avengers)
and save the Nick Fury and SHIELD for either a Nick Fury standalone film (unlikely) or Avengers 2 (more likely).
Sure, they're not in any proper order chronologically or by release date, but it'd be cool anyway!Last edited by Kernie on Mon Jul 25, 2011 12:46 am, edited 1 time in total.

I'm sure some hi-res posters will surface soon!

It's Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner...
