You're always stealing my ideas and doing a better job than me, bpm... for shame. :( :( :(

Just kidding...

Some absolutely beautiful covers in this collection, ford! Not a bad idea to have individual artist threads... helps us follow what someone's up to and even shows their improvement as a designer. :D :D :D

Impressive set there ford, hitch hikers is great, the way you did it is fantastic, voted it number 1. Love the preview you've done here, and kearnie's also, how do you do those spine previews, as in is it a program?

kernie - thanks buddy, it's the best way to do it... wait til kernie comes up with the idea, then steal it and make it better, mwa ha ha! ... JK buddy, I agree, would be cool if each of the artists had a thread like this.

random - thanks, appreciate the comments. As for the spine previews, I use the same action I do for the full previews that you see above with Sunset and Lion King/Nemo, but then I drop the preview into another PSD file, line up all the spines, then put a mask over them to get rid of the front/back... Do that 70 times, and that's what you get... I think that might be similar to what kernie does.

... and that's precisely why I don't have such a thread!!!! :sponge1:

I use actions to make the preview, but my spine layout file is really easy to add to, so it wouldn't be worth putting an action together for.

It's basically just an extension of the Cover Preview action, with a few steps added on so that it crops the preview to the width of the spine and automatically does a duplicate layer into the PSD of all my spine previews (the spine preview PSD must be open in PS for it to work). I still have to place the spine where it belongs in the collection PSD, but it saves me from manually doing the cropping/duplicating/etc.

I could try to make an Action file, but the last few steps (duplicating into your file) won't work properly because it depends on your filename. The most my action would do is run the Cover Preview steps and then crop to the width of the spine.

Make sense?
