Hey, I'm looking to get a new printer and I'm thinking about the Epson Artisan 835 because it's cheap right now at Best Buy where I'm located. My question is what ink system do you guys recommend? And will the Ink System ruin my printer? Is there anyway for it to leak out like the ink refill cartridges? Also by installing one of these systems will it void my service warranty I have with Best Buy? I'm located in Canada and looking for a system from North American but I'm open to other options outside of North America if the deal is good. Thank you

Before you buy the printer look on ebay for a waste ink tank that way you save the inkpads from ever being used, as you would be amazed at how much ink is used on a clean or cartridge install on a average clean they use 8 to 10 % of a cartridge. plus when you buy a waste inktank you usually get the reset software for the printer, for when it says parts are at the end of there life or service required. feel free to inbox me as i have the name of a site that might have the tank for the printer you want,

Been buying mine here for years. I only spend $35 or so per year with refills and I print a LOT. Seriously. First kit is around 85, and the tanks are full. Easy to setup and reset. Usually my printers wear out physically from use after a year and I haven't seen the "service" message in 3-4 years thankfully.

I bought 4 Epson R280s new off Ebay for $160 shipped a couple years ago. I specifically looked at the ink site first to see which were compatible. There are several other places that make the CIS but these have alwqays worked well for me, and the refills come in bottles with a lid similar to old ketchup. All I do is remove the small top off each color and squirt it in.

Do the systems clog up or ruin the printer heads? And what about the extended warranty?

As with just about anything these days, any modifications will void your warranty. I use an Epson R265 with re-fillable cartridges which have been spot on for me. I have just moved to a enternal tank for catching the waste ink as i have had the Serice message pop up so decided to rip out the inkpads, pull the pipe out the side of the printer and move to external ink desposal. My warranty has expired now so that is the reason i did it.
Before at least i could have taken the cartridges out if there had a problem with the printer, but i've never had one. Fingers Crossed.
There's only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving, and that's your own self.

ukm you should check the epson site, that's where I got mine they are always on sale and usually cheaper than bestbuy.

Right now they have them for 199.00 no tax and free shipping. I believe they're 299 at Bestbuy..

I've never had any issues with ink waste or clogged print heads using the CIS except after a years worth of heavy usage. Even then, I always had a bad habit of not turning my printer off all the time, which is not good. I researched and discovered that when you turn the printer off, the print heads are capped off to prevent drying and clogging. Now I turn it off as soon as I am done with it, even if it means several times a day.

Start over for me for just a sec. What are these waste tanks, and CIS? Where do you get them from and how are they used?
