Bonjour à tous!

[attachment=14732:Oceans_B...vr_Prv_1.jpg]

That's my new project, the cover to go with the label i made,i'm still missing a lot of stuff for the back mainly Disney logos, did not find them on this site :shrug: so i'll be looking for them, what i was mostly wondering about was the front, i've been thinkering with the blue color, what do you guys think?? don't worry the back has still a lot of work to be done probably a line of legal under the specs. a synopsis and the credits above the spec box, that's my first showing in hopes of getting your feel for it, thanks!!

I think the first & second picture on the front looks weird.
And I think the Credtis looks hard to read.
I also think you can make something better with the stills.

Hi all!1

[attachment=14776:Oceans_Prv_4.jpg]

i changed the size of the credits for readability,should i put the legals under the logo line? I also changed the pictures on the front for better resolution ones, what i'm wondering is for the back i'm not sure with the way i put the pics, like in a domino, do i have too many pics on the back? Suggestions would be welcomed, thanks!!

nice start :)

My recommendations for what you have so far is to drop the stills on the front, and let the waves be the main picture on your front - depicting ALL life in the Oceans. From what I spot - you have a massive, good-looking wave going on there.... Why obscure it?

I think you should try and think of the spine asa design space of its own. You can have ocean blue there, but IMO it does not have to be continued from the front - if that makes sense ;)

For the back, I recommend that you pick up the proper Disney template and use that instead. The credit block looks a bit cramped still - try to enlarge it some more. I like the space you have from the pic frame to the spine on the lowest right still. Perhaps you can make the block big enuff so that it has the same amount of free space on each side as that?
A designer knows he has achieved perfection - not when there's nothing left to add - but when there's nothing left to take away

I agree with JR... definitely use the proper Disney BD template for this one.

Also, I think it's really cluttered with pictures. My eye doesn't know where to look first, there's not really a focal point besides the title treatment. And even then, my eye is quickly pulled away from the TT by all the other images.

I think one continuous underwater ocean pic might work well for the entire background. Pick maybe one great image and surround it by a border for the front cover. Then you need to organize the back a bit more. Look at other covers in our gallery and even retail covers to see how others have handled back layouts. The synopsis should take up more space, and you could probably ditch about 2 or 3 pictures and find a more structured way to present them, either in a still strip or something else.

Just my 2 cents... hope it helps... :D :D :D

JR and kernie make some great points and would love to see them implemented into your design.

Look forward to an update on this!

Hi!

[attachment=14787:Oceans_prelim_2.jpg]
Read your posts, many times, and think i understood ;) ,thanks for the help and suggestions, the only template i found is one from bazzah for touchstone/disney studios so i'm using this one,if thats not the one please let me know where to find it, kernie i couldn't choose a picture in particular( too many good ones) for the front like you suggested so i went for simplicity made disney nature a bit bigger and moved TT 3/4 inch up, now for the back, i was lacking time so...i wanted hire contrast on the small pic so i put dark orange i will lighten it up a bit, that's it for now, please give me your first impressions and any suggestion are welcomed thanks!!

In all honesty, I don't think you can leave the front like that. I mean, I get it, it's an ocean... but you need something else. Be decisive and pick a good picture to put on there somehow. "Too many good ones" is a lame excuse and kind of comes off as lazy.

I still think the whole thing would look better with one continuous (i.e. not changing when you get to the back) image across the entire background.

The jellyfish image is too busy to use as a background, it competes with what you're trying to put on top of it. Again, why I think a more broad, non-descript, vast view of the underwater ocean would look great as a background.

Something along these lines, maybe? (Although this is hardly anything close to perfect, and on-second-glance might be a bit too similar to "National Geographic" rather than "Disney Nature")

Also, I'm not sure you have the right template. Download the Buena Vista one from the Blu-ray templates section of the site. I usually remove the front and top of the back stuff (the pointless barcode and Disney Movie Rewards crap), but you can pick and choose what you want to keep. But I'd suggest leaving the spine and bottom-back legals sections fairly untouched.

Keep it up, it's getting there!!! :D :D :D
