Started to work a little with a David Fincher collection. The cover is totally in Swedish atm but I will change that on the way. I just need some help with what to do with the spine and the area on the back that is empty.

Seems like a very simple take on a horror film, maybe use a different pic for the from or grunge it up slightly right now it seems like heartfelt kind of movie. The stills look great, I'd also add a little texture to the TT.

I also would say maybe only use one red box for the synopsis it kind takes up the whole back and doesn't leave any room for anything else.

Now I've grunged it up a bit, maybe too much. I don't know.

I don't mind the grunge so much, it's the overall layout, image usage, and font choices that bother me...

1) First off, why bother using two pictures of Freeman and Pitt together? They're kind of boring pics to begin with, and it's even more awkward because Freeman's always on the left, Pitt on the right. Why not find a image of Pitt for the top (maybe an extreme close-up of his face) and one of Freeman (again, extreme close-up) for the bottom? And grunge up those images?

2) The red band across the middle is okay, and I can sort of see how you might use that for a continuing Fincher collection, but I would extend the box/mask/whatever off the left and right edges of the cover so you don't see the vertical edges of the stroke. It's kind of a minor complaint, but it looks weird.

3) And finally, don't keep that font for the Title Treatment. What is it? Arial, Myriad? Whatever default font came up? It's too plain and boring. You could use the movie font (download it here) or search dafont.com under their Horror/Destroy categories (or think outside the box and look under other categories as well) for a font that is more aesthetically interesting and more closely reflects the tone of the film.

I'll save my comments for the back cover for after you've solved some of the issues with the front.

It's not a bad start, and I love Fincher, so I'd be really interested to see you churn out a sweet series for his films. Keep it up! :D :D :D

I used the font because I wanted to use the same font for all the movies. I think it won't look as good as a set if I use different fonts for all the movies. But I can always try.

It's an update on the right way! But as Kernie said, it's kinda boring with Freeman and Pitt two times on the front.
Instead of using a white stroke around the red field, can't you just grunge up the edges with some brushes? :)

And if i'm gonna say something about the TT if think it could work with different fonts, just use official TT's on all the covers.

I think you'll be fine switching out the TT font as long as you use the same fonts consistently in other areas. Pick a font for synopsis, critic quotes, taglines, headers, and features lists that you can keep the same on each cover and only change the TT font for each film. I think that might give you the consistency you want while still customizing it a bit for each different film. I did something similar for my Comic Book Collection covers, I use the official TT's but then keep Eurostile and Komika as my standard text/headline fonts. It's done me well for several dozen covers...

If you still wish to keep the same font for each movie's TT, I think you need a better one than the one you have now. It's really dull, plain, and reeks of a default system font. I honestly think it's going to be difficult for you to find a standard font that will work for all of his films. He has a pretty diverse filmography, and a font that might work well for "Benjamin Button" will not work for "The Social Network," "Zodiac," "Alien 3," and "Fight Club," and vice versa. I'd love to see you prove me wrong, but I think you'd be better off changing up the TT font while keeping the same fonts for the rest of the template.

Oh, and you can probably ditch those logos on the front. At this point, we should all know that Blu-ray's are 1080p and usually feature Master Audio. But I don't think it will ruin the design if you choose to leave them there.

I agree with everything that's been said listen to Kernie and you'll make a great cover. the two pics of Pitt and Freeman just don't fit well and even after you added the little grunge they still look weird. Pitt's arm looks like it has stain on his shirt and it doesn't suit the picture. Just keeping looking around I;m sure you find some decent pics hat would suit your needs.

I'm cooking up a quick preview that might help guide you in a better direction... hang in there for about 30 min. and I should have something for you...

If you don't mind... :D
