X-Men Origins: Wolverine
You're thinking too much, Nixar! Sauron, if you want to, you might be able to add in a fist behind the claws (but in front of the texture layer), if you're concerned that it looks weird.
The PSD at the link you provided is cutout pretty poorly. Use this one instead, it's separated into claw, shadow, and tear layers:

As for the Exposure adjustment layer (depending on what version of PS you're using, you might not have this), but go to Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Exposure... and adjust the exposure settings to about 1- 1.5. Put a mask on the layer. Make the mask all black and paint in white (with a feathered brush) on areas you want to brighten/overexpose (the highlights on his claws and face).
For the gradient layers, go to Layer > New Fill Layer > Gradient. Make the linear gradient go from Black to White to Black (or just Black to White and make the gradient Reflected). Put it on an angle of 45 degrees and move the white part of the gradient (with the Gradient Fill window open, you should be able to drag the gradient by dragging on the canvas) so that it lines up around Wolvie's face. Set it to Soft Light. Duplicate the layer and set it to Multiply with an Opacity of 80%. Check the PSD I provided as well. I hope this helps you figure it out.
Hope to see some updates soon!

Really appreciate everyone's help with this
Thanks.
Kernie thanks for the Claw looks great. Here is an update, I added the exposure layer which I didn't know about and have been using Adobe Suite for over 7 years now.
Does the hand behind the claw look okay or shall I just remove it? If I remove it I will try something like drwho suggested.
Nixar I highly doubt it becoming the best cover available for this film, there are plenty other out there that are much better.

I like the hand with the claw. I think putting a face in there would be a bit too much. We see Logan's face enough on the cover, we know whose claws they are.
Did you do the gradient adjustment layers? It looks odd with just the overexposure and no ambient light there to actually cause the overexposure on his face...
Its getting there...

It looks pretty good, just drag the lighter part of the gradient to the upper right corner to get rid of that really dark part up there. If you double-click on the Gradient thumbnail in the layers palette, it should bring up a Gradient Fill window. With that window open, you should be able to drag the gradient around the canvas and put it where you want it. Have the darker part be down in the lower left corner because that's where there is more empty space.
It's getting closer!! Nice work!
