In regards of the back layout, I think it's done. I like the boxes as they are now, and also the sort of imaginary staircase on the back layout...

As to the barcode - well, I'm trying hard to go closer to the retail style than I usually would do with this one, so it's gonna stay there (it's a slip cover/template thing).


I want this to be a solemn cover, why I've tried to keep a certain, clean style. I've tinkered with some faint grunge texture on this preview. Howz this?

I'll re-read your comments after posting this, and see if they will help me improve thecover

I like everything but the yellow at the back looks odd imo and don't have any connection with the movie...

It doesn't seem like you've taken too many of my suggestions, but I still think you should extend the Special Features box off the left and right edges of the back cover. I just think it will look better if something gets cropped off the sides, since Brody and the still photos are clearly staying within those boundaries, it'll make it more interesting if some elements don't play by those rules.

I also think moving Brody up about 30-50 pixels on the front will help to balance out the empty black space. Bringing his eyeline further above the vertical middle will help the front from seeming too "bottom heavy."

Texture on the Special Features box looks nice!

Hope that makes sense. Just my 2 cents... (but what do I know? )

Actually I just forgot to move Mr. Brody on the front. Was on my to-do-list

As for the back - advise-wise - I think I just have had a clear idea of where to end up layoutwise to heed your suggestions. Also - I have really tried hard - very hard - on more than one cover site - to stay away from 'grunging' anything up on this project - simply, coz that's what everyone does atm Why not do it differently?

I'll admit that I'm very guilty of grunging things up on my own covers, I just can't help it. But I think, given that you have a very grungy ghetto background image on the back cover, you could get away with it on this occassion. But if you look at my post, I don't think I ever suggested "grunge," I just said "texture," which doesn't necessarily mean the same thing. Perhaps a subtle smoke texture from the front cover would work, or a low-opacity close up of a piano or piano keys (almost so it's unrecognizable what it is... I've never seen the film, he does play a piano, right)? Just to avoid a plain old light-to-dark gradient...

By all means, it's your cover and you're more than capable of creating quality artwork without me telling you what to do, but you said you wanted me popping in on more WIP's. So deal with my pushiness, buddy!!

- Nah, just kidding buddy - I do appreciate your comments and suggestions - and look forward to them on all my wips from now on On this project I just had a need to stay true to my own sense of designing. And I have experienced this film many times - and it still moves me! - so I guess I just instinctively - and with advise, mind you, went and did the cover I felt for.
