The cover World Stuff
Where did your nickname come from?
When I started work. I have an allergy to hard work, so whenever my boss gave me a job to do, I used to spend more time trying to make the task easier than actually doing the task itself, thats when he christened me easylife and its stuck with me ever since and now it’s more of an award than a nickname
What part of the world do you come from?
Sunny Scarborough in North Yorkshire, but I’ve spent the last 4 years living in South Wales
What got you into designing covers in the first place?
Someone asked if I would have a go at making a cover that they couldn’t find anywhere. Had only used photoshop a couple of times to make the odd sig, but thought it sounded a good challenge and it still is
Is there anyone on the cover making scene that has inspired you?
Several. The first was Zantasha, Saw one of her covers and couldn’t believe someone had made it, thought it was a miss labeled scan and that’s when I decided I wanted to make a cover as good as hers. A few months later I found this place and was blown away by the work of dweez and bearstyle amongst others, still amazed by what they can create out of nothing. More recently I find myself looking for inspiration by looking at covers by voets, bunnydojo and kernie. As for influences, the biggest one has to be Lulu. She cured me of so many bad habits I didn’t even realise I had and helped my sort problems I had no idea how to get around. She helped turn me into the cover designer I am today. Lastly and most recent wysmommy. A few months ago I was ready to pack it in, could seem to finish a cover for love nor money, but with her advice and encouragement, plus finding me some awesome doodahs for my iron man cover, I rekindled my desire to carry on making covers.
What would be your best advice to any up and coming designer?
Trail and error. Just play around and push them buttons. I’ve found out some interest effects by just bunging layer ontop of layer and tinkering around
What’s your favourite cover you have made?
My latest, which at this moment is my Iron Man 2 cover
What’s your least favourite cover you have made?
Anything made more than a six months ago
What’s your favourite cover that someone else has made?
Loads, but If I had to go for 2 it would be Dweez’s Pet cemetery and Kylumi’s secret garden

What do you do for a living?
RIMINI Planner. Hands up who knows what that is, ha ha ha. Ok, Ill tell ya. I work on the railway in the office. When they guys go out on track they need a safe system of work. That’s where I come in, writing them rimini plans RIsk MINImisation. And no, I have nowt to do with the train delays.
Any kids (that you know of)?
One of each, A boy about to go to Uni (Yeah) and a girl at college. Will soon have the house to myself again, woohoo
Any brothers/sisters?
One of each. Both still live back in Scarborough, so I see very little of them
What was your childhood like? Share an interesting "growing up" story.
Was forever in trouble. There was one time when I was Scarborough Technical College, the teacher used to arrange days out and he decided that at a day at court sitting in the gallery would be a good Idea. Good Idea, bad timing as he picked the same day as I was the star turn. Every Friday night we used to go to the Penthouse night club, have a skinfull and then go skinny dipping at the local outdoor pool. On this occasion, someone had broken into the kiosk, but they had left several boxes of Curly Whirlys by the smashed window, feeling peckish i didn’t want them to go to waste, so I borrowed them. Trying to stagger home I remember an old suppermarket trolley that had been in the bushes by the pool for ages, so in my drunken state I thought it would be a good idea to load it up. Well about 20 mins later I was busy trying to push a wonky trolley up a steep hill, in the middle of the road when suddenly I was bathed in blue flashing lights. 6 weeks later I was stood in front of the magistrate, My class and my teacher sat there laughing and I had to listen to the occasional chorus of “Hang Himâ€. Actual, thing this should of gone in the most embarrassing bit. Got worse as I also garnered a new nickname, “The Curly Whirly Kidâ€.
What is your favourite food?
Steak, mushrooms, chips, onion rings, tomatoes and a fried egg with lashing of Hienz tomato ketchup. Has to be Heinz though.
Tell us about your best vacation.
A Caribbean cruise. When I was a teenager I enter a competition ran by embassy regal to win a two week Caribbean cruise for 2. I only went and won the bloody thing. Got even better when the local evening news paper printed an article and mentioned that I hadn’t decided who I was going to take. For the next month I never had to pay for a pint and I started to realise what Casanova must of felt like. In the end I took my dad and that’s when I found out who my true friends were. Oh, the cruise was bloody awesome too. The Sea Princess, was full of competition winner, so instead of the usual toffs it was jammed packed with us commoners. After the first night they had to get a supply ship as between us all we managed to drink three months supply of bottled beers.
What is your favourite type of music/band?
What im listening to at the moment is a german band called “the baseballs†but I have a wide and varied taste in music
What is your favourite movie of all time?
Avatar would be up there, along with bedazzled but I think id have to plump for Running Scared, The 1986 version with Gregory Hines and Billy Crystal, or All of me, Steve Martins best and one of the funniest films I’ve ever seen
What one place would you like to visit?
Universal studios in Florida
What other hobbies do you have besides movies & graphics?
Annoying people, but its more of a natural attribute than a hobby. I’ve also been enjoying have a blast at writing some Bumchin and Squat episodes for a non existent tv show.
What is the best thing that ever happened to you?
I know I should be saying Getting married or the birth of my kids, But it is Leeds winning the old division 1 title pipping Manchester United. The last Leeds match of the season was on the same day as my sons christening, so after trying to listen to the match on the radio I gave up and sneaked home to watch the second half. Best thing was, when I got back to the afterwards do, everyone though the beeming smile was because I was a proud dad, I never let on
What is the most embarrassing thing that's ever happened to you?
Several of the most embarrassing moments have stemmed from my inability to but my brain in gear before my mouth starts talking. An example. I had just started courting my wife, and we ended up at her parents house and had it all to ourselves, so we decided to make the most of it and went upstairs. Now her bed was so small and uncomfortable, so we decided to borrow her brother’s bed. We had just finished, errr, playing cards when her mum came in, quickly we slipped back down stairs and thought we had got away with it, but at the time i didn’t really know what mother-in-laws were like and their ability to know everything that was happening in the world at any given time. So she came in the room and started to have a rant which ended with “and if you must use your brother-in-laws bed, at least have the decency to make the bed afterwards, I still regret saying, “Do you think I look like a chambermaid†Doh.

Red, no Blue, Arrrrgggghhhhhhhhhh
What is your favourite animal?
African grey parrot. Also my least favourite animal when it wont shut up when im trying to watch the telly
Who is your favourite actor?
Used to be Steve martin, but I don’t have one, even great actors can make a stinker of a film.
If you could meet one person, who would it be, and why?
Nick Clegg. Just to find out how well he sleeps at night after selling out and dropping all the policies people voted for him over, just to get a place in government. Also to ask him if David Cameron is really that smug and smarmy looking in real life
If you could be one person, who would it be and why?
My boss, then id finally get the pay rise I deserve, plus there would be a culling amongst the people that piss me off at work
What super power would you have, and why?
The power of flight. Then i wouldn’t get stuck in that damn traffic jam every night, i hate the journey home from work
What is your favourite car or motorcycle?
Well my dream car would be a McLaren MP4 12C

If you knew you had 24 hours to live, how would you spend that time?
Making a video. Tell my family how much I missed them, and tell the people at work what a bunch of complete w……. they were.
Some strange stuff
Have you ever been shot?
Yes. By an air pistol. When I was a kid, me and a few mates invented a game based on our favourite TV show, Starsky and Hutch. The idea was to split into two teams of 2 and you had to run around the sand dunes while shooting your opponents with air pistols. The only rule was that a hit only counted if you took the shot while air bound, bonus points if you were diving in slo mo like stasky and hutch did on the telly. Since there was 5 of us and only 4 air pistols, the 5th one had to be the Ref (Huggy Bear) The only draw back was if there were too many dodgy decision, then the ref ended up having 4 people going for him with said air pistols.

Marry Trying to think of an attractive female chef that really enjoys housework and is good in bed. Sleep with Scarlett Johansson, but only if she wore the black widow costume, well at least to start off with. Throw off a cliff Jordon, god do I hate that slapper
