Not a lot of love for this cover, judging by the lack of input... :(

Oh well... I'll keep plugging away on this one from time to time...

Here's an update. RRJR84, I still want to keep a generally white design although I tried to tone down the overexposure on Karloff's face. I think it's a bit classier with the white border than the usual dark, gothic style that most people have gone with for these films. I guess I just want to do something different that treats these films with some elegance. As a compromise, I made the inside part of the frame on the front darker and added the windmill element (which will change to other scenes for the other characters: castle for Dracula, woods/moon for Wolfman, lagoon for Creature from the Black Lagoon, etc.).

I also swapped out the TT for the one I made for my Abbot & Costello Meet Frankenstein label, which I think is a bit more eye-catching than the one I had before.

Still unsure about the back, although I think this will be a cover that houses all the Frankenstein films, similar to the Universal Legacy DVD (here) that came out a few years back.

Anyway, please lend a brother a hand and chime in, I'm kind of disappointed by the lack of interest in this one... :cry: :cry: :cry:

I like the old TT better, it didn't blend in with the green backdrop. I would keep the clouds off the spine to keep a simple set. I'm not interested in monster movies even classic ones but this looks pretty good Kernie

Kernie, sorry I'm late to the party, am loving the concept, and your timing is perfect, am planning on building a classic horror/scifi set for a friend (trying to remind him of his youth). Am digging the color theme concept for Frank, agree red's gotta go to Dracula, am wondering...blue for wolfman? or perhaps Invisible Man? Not sure about the offset Frank for the latest cover, thought he looked better alone and centered, with the spatters of course. Love the template you've laid out, the think band of color adds a real sharpness, very classic, but still modern. Can't wait to see where you're going with the set, cause let's be honest, I joined this site because of you and that comic set of your's, so bring it on Kernie, my printers ready.

This version is the perfect shade of white I love it. I do like that stone like TT better for some reason the abbot & costello just doesn't give the same impact even though I really love it because I tried to model My Frankenstein TT to it.

Is there any way of mixing that stone TT with a little bit Of light like the abbot & costello one. I think that would look great to mix some lighting with the stone effect.
Given your talents I've sure you could come up with something great .

As for the back maybe get a shot of Dr. Frankenstein in there is you have one somehow. Just keep at it you could make really wicked set for this even better than both retail releases versions.

Yeah, I know, but this has been one of the worst summers for movies. Unless I want to make the 1,000th cover that this site has seen for Iron Man 2, Toy Story 3, or Inception...

Current or not, it doesn't hurt for people to chime in with their 2 cents. Especially since I usually try to give mine.

Update.

Kept the clouds on the spine, nikerun, I just didn't like it flat white. It was too plain, I like subtle gradations of color and texture. Although looking at it in the preview, I think I'll lighten the clouds a bit, they're too prominent now.
Pushed Frankenstein's Monster back to center, shrunk him a bit, and moved the windmill to fit.
Lightened the title treatment with a level adjustment layer. I tried some stone textures but none worked quite right. I'll keep experimenting with the TT.

What do you think?

M8, I like the new TT as opposed to the first, I miss the splatters, perhaps you can use those for texture rather than the clouds, also I'd love the splatter set if you can share, hehe? I know well how hard resources are for these, keep em going, so far it's looking great.

Yes! I 2nd that. Don't get too many comments on my wips as I seem to choose old films (+1 year(s) - We were soldiers, There will be blood, and Amistad, just to name a few).

The problem is that many new movies get (too) many covers done - and older stuff, classics and must-see's don't get the same attention, coz they're not as 'hip' to make as the brand-new titles...

Don't worry with that Andrew, you know we are here and i guess we all like your work :)

I never saw this classic but i must say i like a lot!! this new update! Great work with the front images and great TT imo!
Keep going and don't give up on this :)
