Are there any tutorials about cleaning up a scan?

I've got an older scanner, but it still pulls good quality. . Max 1600dpi I think. But it gets EVERYTHING. so it looks really dotty.

Any good ways to clean it up?

I've used Photoshop since I was 14 or 15, but never really learned how to clean up ...

Is it crop marks you need?

What I would probably do is add about a 1/8" inch lip extra all the way around the artwork for bleed purposes.

make guides around the art at the 1/8" marks.

then just draw a black line 1/4 of the way down each corner at those guide lines and use those to cut from ...
