Hang on there!

Actually you should try and get a copy of the 'Photoshop Secrets' DVD It's a series of step-to-steptutorials which teaches you how to make a credit block, how to make a movie poster aso.

Okay, thank you guy's I will try and work on one and post it, but I'm kind of embarrassed because it will look horrible compared to these.

No need to be embarrassed! We were all at the same stage as you one day. W.I.P can help you a lot.

If you would like some help, post one of your covers that you are working on into W.I.P and we will be happy to help you out and teach you some techniques.

I have come along way as a designer thanks to HiResCovers and I am still learning after using the Adobe package for 8 years now.

i dont think there are any - and it depends on your skills with photoshop, I use paintshop - its a bit more user friendly for beginners

firstly create a dvd template, this is easier than trying to use a studio template. (its 300 DPI and measures 3240 x2175 the spine runs from 1535 to 1705 and the middle is 1620 pixels)

look at a retail cover you have and see how its laid out. for example a basic cover would consist of-

front image+title+stars

Spine title + dvd logo + studio logo

Back - image at the top + quote, a few screen shots a synopsis

then maybe a list of bonus material

then a credit block, logos and a legal statement

the important things to remember is make sure the information is correct, the images are of a suitable high quality, and everything is typed.

also make sure you use guidelines to make sure everything lines up.

try a basic cover and post it in WIP for help (explain that you a noob with limited skills) and see what you can do

Hey, I was wondering if there are any tutorials that anyone knows who will instruct how to create these amazing cover from beginner to advanced. All of you make great covers and I've been wanting to learn but can never get mine to look like the one's posted, I'm new to Photoshop and would like to watch some tutorials on how to create covers, or if anyone can make a tutorial on how to do this. Thank you
