One of our members made an astute observation in a post recently (and I paraphrase here): Our site is a community, and everyone contributes to the community. Some contribute with their artistic abilities (by providing custom artwork), and some contribute financially (through subscriptions). Both types of contributions are needed for our community to thrive, and those members who do not continue to contribute should not continue to receive the benefits of advanced membership.
With that in mind, we have recently implemented a new procedure to determine if our advanced members continue to contribute to our community. This automatic procedure will be run on or about the 1st of each month.
Here are the rules:
• Custom covers are worth 3 points each, labels are worth 1.
• The system requires 24 points per year to maintain contributor status.
• If you are short of this requirement at 11 months, you will receive a warning.
• If you have less than 16 points at 9 months, you will receive a friendly warning about not being “on paceâ€.
• No contributions for 5 straight months will result in a loss of status.
• You will receive a warning if you have no contributions for 4 months straight.
• Do not delete old contributions and re-upload them trying to “fool†the system – we have accounted for this type of behavior.
Now, we recognize that automated procedures like this are not perfect. We are currently not checking console labels & covers, or posters & resources – and both of these are very important contributions to our community. There may be other situations as well that require manual intervention. If you receive a warning or account degrade, and you believe it is in error, please send a PM to Bazzah, and he will do the manual verification needed to determine your contributor status.
