Yes you can EDIT the Keyboard Shortcuts and preferences. Photoshop CS (Custom Select) has this option. Just goto EDIT>>KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS or press ALT+SHIFT+CTRL+K from your keyboard. Open the FILE MENU, click on the
shortcut and change it to whatever you like.

Hmmm... I have CS v8.0. That is odd that mine has no dialog button. I guess I'll use the browse instead of open for now on.

Would there be a way to have the browse box appear when double clicking a blank area instead of the open box?

Well if you use (Ctrl+O) or double click left mouse button on a blank area in photoshop same thing happens and the window will look like this. I don't know why it isn't there in yours. What version of CS are you using?. Although photoshop also makes a record of your last 10 opened file. Just goto "FILE>>OPEN RECENT. I guess the setting you wanna do can't be done without ADOBE DIALOG cuz the browsing options you're using right now are that of your OS.

I don't see the USE ADOBE DIALOG? this is done by File, open (Ctrl+O) and this screen appears. I would like ti to some how save the settings as Thumbnail and arrange my modified. If I do it now, the next time I still have to go through the same process, it doesn't save it when I set it.

Assuming that you're using Windows XP, here's what you need to do. When OPEN WINDOW appears, see at the bottom left corner of that window. You'll see a button titled "USE ADOBE DIALOG". Click it and the view will be changed to Adobe Format. Now Select Right Click>>Arrange BY>>Date Modified. If the last modified file is at the last of the list, repeat Right Click>>Arrange BY>>Date Modified once more. That's it.If you wanna use the previous settings, change the Dialog button to "USE OS DIALOG"

Everytime I want to open an existing file in Photoshop CS in order for me to find the last project I have been working on I have to right click---->Arrange Icons---> then choose Modified. The problem is that it never remembers this. It always resorts back to Alphabetical order? So the next time I want to open that project I have to do the whole RC--AI--M process all over again. What I would really like to do if at all possible is to have the open file "box" appear as thumbnails and arranged as modified.....Any know if this is possilbe?
