It is always possible, especially with your skills. I think he was before your time here, but chefjoe was making covers for lower budget horror films. If you start with the smaller distributers, you may be able to work your way up :)

A late thanks to everyone in this thread! Cover design is a great opportunity to combine two of my passions: (watching) films and graphic design. In recent years I gained a particular interest for older films, mainly from the 70s to the 90s.

It would be awesome to make a living with key art creation for major (Hollywood) films one day. Unfortunately, this is hard to achieve in Europe, or at least here in Switzerland. We have such a tiny film market and while the majority of the films shown in cinemas are made in Hollywood, the key art designs (posters, banners etc.) are mostly just being translated to save money. We'll see what the future brings. From time to time, I'm peering at some US design agencies for the entertainment industry ;)

Congrats, weyn. Great designer, 2 bad he doesn´t create covers in german language anymore. :(

These are my favorites of them:

Great design, exspecially the front

Great color choice and I like the 3D effect very much

Cool colors and a perfect design on the back. :thumb:

All the covers are great but I really like what you did on Gladiator, especially the back with the features section.

Congrats on being designer of the week weyn :D

This imo really is a stunning cover, the lighting and colors used are superb. Brilliant use of character pictures that really fits the movie well, great job on the background and the TT is also stunning.

Another brilliant cover from you, you've managed to fit the two main characters on the front in a great way and you've also added the important Alcatraz with some jets in the background, which again fits the movie perfectly. Nice job on the colors and the TT. Great use of the background image as well and superbly done with the orbs.

Fantastic work with the colors, excellent work the characters and the background. Excellent work with the lighting as well and also great job on fitting the map on the back and the SF box looks great.

Congrats on the recognition Weyn! I'm always looking forward to your next cover. I especially like your showcase posts where you show us what resources you used. Here are a few covers I really like that haven't yet been mentioned.

Weyn has been a big designer to watch here from his very first upload, but it was probably mid-2017 when he really kicked things into high gear, where a couple of semi-experimental designs showcased how much thought (as well as skill) he puts into his covers:

What has really set Weyn apart in recent years is his ability to piece together all sorts of materials into clean, definitive images. Knowing the resources available for a lot of titles he chooses, it stuns me what Weyn is able to create, while making it all look smooth and easy:

Perhaps the best recent example of that talent is his cover for Rear Window, a magical work of art that left me wishing I had made it. :)
