It's usually tough to get a sense of who people are online, but Kylumi is a wholly unique character whose personality can shine through in his covers as much as it did in his forum posts. He's another guy where I expected 100's of covers to pop up in the search results, who in his heyday here always seemed to be up to something interesting and unusual.
Ten years ago (wow, 10 years?), a solid 50% of people who filled out the "My Favorite Custom Cover:" section of their bio seemed to have this one listed. He was always challenging himself to get better and try different things -- and came across as his own toughest critic -- but I hope he let himself take a victory lap after this one:
His Battle Royal III winner is another one where it was nice to see him force himself to accept how much the designers of the hobby respected his work:
This one jumps out as a very "Kylumi-ish" design, where you can see him trying a lot of different stuff and it doesn't necessarily feel like a cover so much as a desktop wallpaper fan art collage jambalaya, but because it's Kylumi it works:
