Really nice work on this!

My previous hesitation about the design was that the two styles tended to clash. Whereas with the now-legendary comic book series it made perfect sense to have your characters exploding forth from the paper into your ultra-hip styling, the mixture here came off a bit more as just "this looks cool." I think you've taken it a very long way, though, to the point where, yes, it looks cool, but it also seems to work.

Suggestion-wise, it looks like you can easily get away with cutting off the splatter at the spine instead of having those extra little specs on the spine and back (unless you add another splatter on the back). Other than that, I'm tempted to suggest making the bottom "Legacy Series" text one or two points smaller so it isn't exactly lining up with the sides of the frame, decreasing the spacing on "Karloff" a little bit, and making the size difference less severe on the drop caps in the tagline, but I'm sure that's stuff you're either still fine-tuning or have already played around with and found this setup to be best.

So yeah, all that text for no real suggestions. :D Keep up the great work. :)

Perhaps blend the color with the TT banner, kinda a explosive effect? but I like it!

Exactly what I was thinking. I think that's a better look if your going to use the ink splatter.

by donger » Fri Aug 27, 2010 4:13 pm

I like the extra ink splatter.

Not sure if I'm following you... do you want me to have the splatter overlap the white border around the edge of the front cover? So that it breaks the bounds of the Frankenstein/windmill/lighting frame?

If so, I was kind of thinking that as well... just haven't had any time to devote to it in the last few days.

EDIT:

Like this? I'm not sure... what do others think??!!

Keep the splatter like you have, but don't have it just on the "poster/border" area. Expand it like you did on the 2nd page, where you had already designed the back cover. I think it would flow a little better if you did, as of now it looks like the splatters are just restricted, from being an ink splat which is random. Hopefully that made sense!

Good work, look forward to seeing these!

Jeeeeeeez, The splatters really make the TT explode! I love em, see I told you that already, hehe Thanks for bringing em back!

Got a few other things going at the moment that I need to finish this week. So don't hold your breath... it might be a few weeks until I wrap this one up... :(

Really? We had to vote for splatters?? Lol...Kernie, the TT looks fantastic, the splatters have got to stay, cause your right, they break up the rigidity, the keep your eyes from just seeing squares and rectangles. Keep up the great work Kern, and hurry up, lol. I wanna print it, lol.
