Baz and Kev, you two like the same sci-fi TV Series "The Orville". I do too, but I know it's probably Kev's favorite show. 8834.gif

It is one of my favourite shows too.

Sorry as this is not a rating, but has anyone seen Strange Darling (2024)? I don't believe anything about the ratings as most of them seem to be paid/fake.

I haven't seen it, but I see a lot of the IMDB reviews are fake. It has a very high Rotten Tomato score too. But there are a lot of reviews, so I would imagine most are genuine.

I might give it a go.
What Comes Around (2022) 4/10 - As with most of the movies I've seen recently, it started of pretty okay, I might even say good.
Spoiler Block
It's a movie about a girl connecting with a guy on the internet, they have great chemistry and it's almost like they are a long distance couple. One day, the guy surprises the girl by showing up outside her house, she gets a bit freaked out, but they end up meeting and pretty much are a couple from that day on. Later the guys tells the girl he wants to meet her mum, they meet and her mum wants this guy thrown out straight away. The reason we learn being that she had a thing with him when she was his teacher many years back, he has now come for revenge as the mum left him saying he made up everything about the relationship they had. At this point everything just became too stupid for me so that's the reason for the low rating.

Don't Worry Darling (2022) 5/10 - I had really high hopes for this movie, I thought it looked good in the trailer and as always, started off great.
Spoiler Block
However, when we learn everything is just a simulation which for me was a huge disappointment, so that's why it gets a 5 from me.

Jolt (2021) 6/10 - A surprisingly fun and entertaining movie. Kate plays her role brilliantly but there are just some parts of the plot that were disappointing. I'd recommend watching it if you're in for a bit of action, comedy and wanna see a great Kate Beckinsale kick some a$$.

The Year I Started Masturbating (2022) 6/10 - This is a swedish movie, so a lot of you have probably not seen it.
Spoiler Block
This is a simple but entertaining comedy about a woman who's life is falling apart after she quits her job for her husband. He then decides he wants a break so she must move out. Not having any place to go, she befriends a girl at a cafe who tells her she needs to loosen up and listen to her vagina. Long story short, the movie plays on how she needs to be more open and sexual while also trying to get her job back and finding a place to live.

Ballerina (2023) 6/10 - A woman is seeking revenge after her friend/girlfriend commits suicide after being raped and filmed by a man.
Spoiler Block
She lures the guy to pick her up at a bar and take her home to his place, where he tries to have his way with her, but she fights back and they go back an forth until she and another woman who was kept there manages to get away.
The movie contains some nice fight scenes and a lot of blood, so I would recommend it for anyone who's into those kind of movies.

1408 (2007) 6/10 - Actually one of the better horror movies I've seen in many years.
Spoiler Block
It's about a guy (John Cusack) who is a writer and a ghost seeker, staying at the most haunted and scariest places he can find and then writing books about his experiences. John doesn't believe in anything supernatural and nothing supernatural has happened to him before. He learns about the hotel room called 1408 where a lot of deaths had occurred. The manager tries everything to keep him from staying in that room, but John insists and finally gets his will. A lot of supernatural things ends up happening in the room which in the end gets him killed as he burns down the room so no one else has to stay in it.
There were certain things about the plot I wasn't too happy with, which is why it got a 6/10 from me.

Last Seen Alive (2022) 6/10 - A decent movie about a kidnapping and someone being a hero and save the day. What I liked about the movie is that the kidnapping part is very plausible and it kinda makes you think how scarily easy it could be for someone to be kidnapped.
Spoiler Block
So Gerared and Jaimie are going on a break because she needs to figure out what she wants (Gerard or new guy), as he drives her to her parents, they end up stopping at a gas station, Gerard fills up the car while she goes in to buy a bottle of water, on the way out she gets stopped by a guy who's asking her for help delivering something to her parents. She is forced in the car and they drive away without being seen. Gerard start to wonder where she's gone and looks around inside and outside the station as well as calling the cops. The cops targets him as the main suspect and as he gets to leave from the interrogation he knows he has to figure it out himself. There are some parts where Gerard who's sneaking around easily would have been caught, as well as some bad shooting and not believable scenes.

Freelance (2023) 6/10 - This is a nice action comedy that has some good moments. It also has some bad cgi/greenscreen and terrible shooting where the good guys can't hit the bad guys while they're only 3-4 meters away from them in the open. I like both Cena and Slater, but the actor I liked the most in this movie was surprisingly for me Juan Pablo Raba. Alison Brie also did a good job.
Spoiler Block
The movie is about ex-special forces guy John Cena working as a private bodyguard for a journalist (Brie) who has an exclusive interview with the president of Pandonia? Originally Juan is painted as the bad guy, but over time we learn that it's actually the ones we thought were the "good guys" that are bad. Juan was accused for shooting down a helicopter which John and his army friends was flying in, while on a mission to stop Juan. There's some tension between John and Juan while Brie tries to keep them all on the same side. On the way to the presidents home they get attacked by his own military as his nephew is trying to take over as president and sell minerals the country has to the so called "good guys". A lot of stuff happens on the way with a lot of action and as usual in these kind of movies, it has a happy ending.
An okay watch if you're in the mood for an Action Comedy.

Am I the only one watching movies here? sad.gif

Sorry about that Baz, even tho I didn't score it higher than 6, you might still find it to be a 7 or 8. I'm very picky at certain things which is why most of the movies I watch end up being 6 or 5. The problem with imdb is that it doesn't have commas. Like Ballerina would most likely be around 6.7 or 6.8, but for me, it's not a full worthy 7, that's why I have to keep it on a 6. I also have to admit, I might have forgotten something at time, I really should write the review right after watching or at least not watch 5 movies and then write reviews tongue.gif
edit: I just noticed, you did catch that it was the one from netflix right? Ballerina (2023) 6/10

Haha, yes, I actually have. Here's the list:
Grind (2003) 10/10 - This probably doesn't make any sense to a lot of people, but for me, being a skateboarder and around 15 when I first watched this movie, this for me was perfection. I still love this movie today and in total I think I've watched over 10 times. Me and a friend watched it three times in a row one day lol.gif
True Romance (1993) 10/10
The Shawshank Redemption (1994) 9/10
The Dark Knight (2008) 9/10
Gladiator (2000) 9/10
Inception (2010) 9/10
The Wolf of Wall Street (2013) 9/10
The Departed (2006) 9/10
Requiem for a Dream (2000) 9/10
The Green Mile (1999) 9/10
Deadpool (2016) 9/10
Django Unchained (2012) 9/10
The Prestige (2006) 9/10
The Lion King (1994) 9/10
Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) 9/10
Green Book (2018) 9/10
Snatch (2000) 9/10
Kick-a$$ (2010) 9/10
The Intouchables (2011) 9/10
The Butterfly Effect (2004) 9/10
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998) 9/10
Disturbia (2007) 9/10
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990) 9/10
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze (1991) 9/10
I'm guessing a lot of these doesn't make much sense for some of you, but hey, everyone has different taste wink.gif

According to your list of high scores, I couldn’t agree more, lol – The only ones I scored high like you at some point are: The Shawshank Redemption (a masterpiece); The Dark Knight; Gladiator (at the time when Russell Crowe made good movies); The Green Mile and Green Book. Some I’ve never heard of and some I didn’t like. But yeah, everyone has different taste depending on many factors. My first anticipation to view a movie or TV Series is the cast, then probably the story line. I don't really take the ratings into consideration, unless it's below 2, lol

Deadpool & Wolverine (2024) 6/10 thumbdown.gif - I had really high expectations for this movie after all the hype it got and watching the trailer. Now that I've watched it, I'm left being disappointed.
Spoiler Block
Firstly i think there were way too many digs at fox, i mean come on, we get it. I don't get why they brought back two legends (Elektra & Blade) as well as introduce a new character (Gambit) & lastly wasting (X-23), only to have them be part of a little mini fight sacrificing themselves so that Deadpool can fix his world. Even tho Elektra (Garner) did look pretty decent when it came to the fight scenes, I have a big issue with Blade (Snipes). The guy is called Blade, Blade has a sword he uses in all his movies, as well as a completely different "outfit" (no leather jacket), why on earth does he use a random knife in this movie? He also didn't seem to have any of his normal gadgets. I don't understand what the point was of introducing Gambit in this way (I am not familiar with this character at all), like what's the point of him, just a random guy helping out to kick some a$$?
Logan was a great movie, the best X-Men movie of all time in my opinion. I really thought that X-23 would take over the role as Wolverine and that she could become the main character for the X-Men franchise, but again they just threw her in here without any meaning other than convincing Logan to help out. I'm also wondering why would all of these Deadpools be friends, but for some reason when "the original" comes, they instantly want to kill him? Lastly the plot is just stupid and not well written at all, why would one "person" be the core that holds the whole "verse" together? I can't really explain it, it's just all round bad. To sum it up, it feels like a movie where they just threw a whole bunch of "random" characters together, mixed with a little bit of "multi-verse" and digs at Fox, had too many ideas, none well executed and thought, let's just go with it. It's 80% parody and 20% good movie. It could have been so much more instead it ended up being mediocre (at best).

I heard nothing but positive things from friends that had seen it. So I was really looking forward to seeing this third edition in the series. But I too was disappointed. I agree that the plot was very weak, and too many of the jokes were irrelevant to the movie. In the other two movies, the jokes were cantered around his immortality etc. Maybe my expectations were set too high, but I really felt let down. It didn't have the Reynolds humour that I am used to. 6/10 is a good score.

It's nice to see that i'm not alone in thinking so. I just feel like they could have done it so much better, but kinda half arsed it.
