I just bought a 1967 Ford Galaxie 500. It's gonna need a lot of work. I'll be updating with pictures soon, if I can figure out how to insert them. I plan to document the process, which will be slow & time consuming.

I had a 1966 Galaxy that same color with a 390 4bbl carb.I gave it to the in-laws who sold it in 1979.It was a gas hog and used a qt of oil every 50 miles.Put a 1968 Merc Cougar 390 in it before I gave it to the in-laws.Was still a gas hog.Best Ford I ever owned was a Fordrolet, 1963 F100 with a 1975 350 4bbl Chevy motor. Good Luck on the restore Jim.

Lol Curt, my thoughts exactly. I don't know anything about cars, but it looks really nice! Also looking forward to the restoration process. Will you be getting help with the restoration? Do you intend to keep that color, or would you prefer something nicer like pink or purple maybe?! lol

Absolutely, I'll be getting help. Arthritis won't let me do this alone. I'll have then body work & interior redone by a local company that specializes in restores. No, the color will be changed. I'm planning to make it RED, inside & out, in honor of my wife. Red was her favorite color.

I had a '66 Mustang fastback with a 302. I had a '68 Cougar XR7 with a 289 (with 302 heads). I had a '68 Charger R/T with a 383 and I had a '70 AMC Javelin with a 390 (German, not Ford). The Javelin was the best I ever had. Ran it into a brick building in '73. None of these did better than 9mpg except the Cougar, which I had custom tuned myself. It got about 19mpg & could smoke the tires WITH AN AUTOMATIC. That one was rear-ended by a 15yo who just got his license. My biggest regret was the Mustang, which I'd bought for my wife but sold in '79 when she got tired of having the clutch replaced every month. Sold it for $1K. Worst move I ever made.

Red is a good choice Foggy, and for good reasons. Your heart is at the right place. Glad you're getting help, it certainly looks like a big job. Is it possible to get pictures of the car from the inside also?

I plan to do that, once it stops raining. It's rough inside as while the guy I got it from was working on it one day, had put his lunch (burger & fries) on the front seat. His pit bull found it & while chasing fries around the seat, tore up the upholstery, which, until then, had been pristine. No biggee, really, as I planned to have it redone, anyway. I'm not thrilled with the dash, but that's not why I got it. I fell in love with the front grill & lights.
