The biggest movie release of 2021 so far, is no doubt Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021). But have you seen it? Or do you plan on seeing it?

With it being such a big budget release, there has been some really interesting decisions made. Such as the square (1.33:1) picture format, which Zach has said was because he loved filming the iMax scenes in Batman vs Superman: Dawn Of Justice and that action figures are vertical, not horizontal. Does this put you off wanting to see the movie? Or if you have already seen it, did it affect how much you enjoyed the film?

Then there is the four hour running time. I am glad this isn't a cinema release, due to covid, as that is a long time to sit in one spot lol.gif Again, does this put you off watching it? If you have seen the film already, did it drag out? Some long movies can feel a lot shorter than they actually are, when you are enjoying them. Such as the LOTR series. While others can feel like they are just going on for too long. Or will you/did you watch it in two parts?

And how good was the film, if you have seen it? So far the ratings are not that far from The Dark Knight, and Dark Knight for me was pure cinematic gold.

I just finished watching it, watched in the day but over about 8 hours.

I wasn't overly excited for this after the theatrical release so didn't have expectations like I did for that.
To me, this is far far far superior.
I understand a lot more about the story now.
I completely enjoyed it, I found myself many times glued to the screen loving what I was seeing and feeling.
The characters are actually characters, with stories that you can connect to, the story makes sense, the effects are amazing and fantastic.
The film works, the pieces come together coherently.
Every hero on the screen is more than worth being there.
It was fun to watch, enjoyable, pleasing and it is IMHO what it should have been before.
Yes I was surprised by the aspect ratio, and it did take a little time for me to accept it but, then it didn't bother me at all.
I feel the actors who copped a lot of flak on the theatrical release are truly vindicated.
This film to me, stands as one of the jewels in superhero movies now.
It was more than worth the money they gave Snyder, the time he spent on it and his vision, and the for the fans that started the movement.

Of course others may not agree but for me it is a big fat win!

If it had been in theaters I would have needed at least 2 bathroom breaks so would have been begging for intermissions.

Wow a 4 hour run time and that aspect ratio is interesting.

Is the film different to the one released in 2017 or is it just an extended version? For someone who hasn't seen either, what would be the best one to watch or do both need to be seen?

It is definitely not The Dark Knight. Not even close.

I know Zack Snyder's films have their ardent fans. Unfortunately, I'm not one of them.

It is so much better than the short version that was released back then. This time we get the full story arc of Cyborg for instance, which plays nicely into the plot. It feels like much a totally different movie. I like the slower story, which makes it a lot easier to follow and understand.

Only thing that really bugged me was the 4:3 ratio. I kept wishing for a wider screen.

I am sorry that Affleck leaving means we will never get JL2, which could pick up on some of the
CODE
SPOILER
- at least that is what I believe it means.

I did not miss the 'let's make it more fun to compete with Marvel' do-over they did back when it was first released at all!

I agree with everything Nightrider wrote 8834.gif

I've just finished watching the film over the past 6 hours, to be honest I can't remember much about the Whedon Cut, I know I've watch it but it's very hazy, so this Snyder Cut was literally like watching the film for the first time.

I enjoyed the slower pace of the film, though I am glad I had a break about 2.5 hours in. Had an hour or so break then went back to watching again, I enjoyed the Cyborg and Flash back stories, and it was nice, but unnecessary to see other characters like Deathstroke and MM, I don't think they added anything to the overall story, they just seemed to be squeezed it as an after thought and a possibility that at one point there could have been a sequel.

This New version of the Justice League, might change the minds of those in charge to begin a sequel, but would it still have the same actors or not? Affleck supposed to be reprising his role in the Flash, but then we are getting a new standalone Batman film with Robert Pattinson. So the question is, will The Flash be classed a Justice League sequel or not?

Going back to the Snyder Cut, the dream/joker scene was confusing to me, I didn't really understand it (was it Supes or Darkseid???????).

Spoiler Block
EDIT: I now understand the epilogue dream sequence, and why Snyder included MM and the changed Deathstroke sequence, I also watched the ending again to understand what was happening, it's basically a alternate dark future in which Darkseid succeeded.

Anyhow overall, though it is a long film (and you definitely need a break) I enjoyed it and by the end battle I was sitting on the edge of my seat when a certain flying hero turned up.

I can't say the aspect ratio bothered me, it was unusual not seeing the film in widescreen, but once your in a darkened room it didn't really faze me at all.

I can't really say I'm a fan of any particular director, including Snyder, but I was surprised that I've unknowingly seen most of the films he's been involved with.

Sorry if there are any spoilers written sad.gif

Yes, a lot of scenes where filming again, differently...

The only problem for me is Stepenwolf... lots of CGI kils CGI.

The rest is almost perfect. Far Far away from the original.
As a huge fan of Batman Vs Superman, i was expecting something equivalent.
I was not disappointed by this version.
Even the ratio is not so disturbing.
I've watched in the dark, like in theater tongue.gif

So, IMO, A Super vitaminated version, miles away from the one in 2017.

I've not watched it yet, maybe tonight. The aspect ratio sounds a bit off putting in a way but i'll give it a go. does anyone think it's worth re-watching the original first or just jump into the new cut? I also have to say i do think for me the four hour length does seem a bit long but i shall see and i will post again once i've seen it to say what i thought after 8834.gif

I wondered this throughout the 4 hours.
finally, I would have preferred to see the one from 2017 before, just to compare.
so i put it straight after, but i fell asleep so it will be for tonight.
