I know that they are massive files but would it be possible for one or more of the master designers to upload one or two of their covers in complete .psd format ?. This would help people like me who are not very " arty " get a better idea of how to actually create a " proper " cover from scratch and it would also be a great way of showing people exactly what they can do with Photoshop. For instance if I was looking at a .psd file, I could hide all the layers just leaving the background and open each layer individually and be able to see what exactly was done in each layer and how each layer contributed to the final cover. I reckon this would be a great tutorial and would definitely help people like me become better cover designers. Here's hoping...

it's good idea but it does have some flaws to it.
1. if your looking for covers using big effects and stuff like that and how it's all handled, the final psd files could end up very large and then your looking for some sort of hosting for that huge file (sizes vary between 20mb upto 200mb which is as big as i got so far)...
2. Certain cover designers like to keep there secrets hidden or very least the the small things that make there covers very original also you have the psd floating round the net and lots of people claiming the cover is their's as they have the psd file if you know what i mean.
3. If a Master Designer does get a psd up for download you are going to incurr errors with fonts and possibly effects if your photoshop doesn't have them...
I've not that long changed to photoshop myself coming from Paint Shop pro and pretty much grasped the basic knowledge already covers i done completely in photoshop are Sneakers / Romper Stomper / Patch Adams / Dantes Peak (HD DVD) and currently working on in photoshop Awakenings / Out Of Sight / HD DVD covers Jarhead / Disturbia / The Last Samurai / Sneakers (dvd conversion) Paint Shop pro (which i started so will finish em in that programme) Batman Begins / All The Pretty Horses....
The only other idea i can think of is to actually do a poster with nice effects and then up the psd for that.....

That would work but who has got the time to make a poster just to help eejits like me ?? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/8834.gif) Maybe some of the master designers could email a cover in .psd format to people from the site if requested ( big files I know but that way it won't be posted all over the web )?
