You need to have Photoshop CS2 to shape tekst inside a path.
If you have CS1 ore lower, you only can attache tekst to a path, not inside.

HI Waynis, make the path.

Then go to the paths menu (behind layers pallete) and highlight the path

then place the cursor inside the path and it'll change (IMG:style_emoticons/default/8834.gif) This has been the case since PS5 I believe (IMG:style_emoticons/default/8834.gif)

Ok i got it to work in cs

1st thing, when i create a custom shape path with the pen tool and want to apply the tekst tool to it, it doesn't work (IMG:style_emoticons/default/chin.gif)

The only way to get a custom shape, is to create a rectangular shaped path with the regtangle tool
and shape that with the direct selection tool into the shape i want and then apply the tekst tool to it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/yawn.gif)
Man thats just weird,

Use the pen tool, select the paths option from the pen tool options (IMG:style_emoticons/default/8834.gif)

Draw the desired shape you want not forgetting to close the path,

Then select the Paths menu and highlight the path you just created.

Next, select the text tool and click the cursor in your path you'll notice the cursor change to (T) this instead of [T] then type away (IMG:style_emoticons/default/8834.gif)

Made you a movie that will show it doesn't work.

no dice

its weird in cs2 it works fine and in photoshop 8 at work it also works fine, but with cs it just won't work with custom shapes only with predefined shapes (IMG:style_emoticons/default/chin.gif)

Strange been using that tool for years across many versions of Photoshop and never had a problem (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure1.gif) By the way, what recording software are you using to make the swf file? Looks a bit like Captivate or robodemo, but sleeker.

No need for that Mr HD,
like Skally said it will work from Photoshop 5 or 6 and above only there are some Photoshop version like my cs
, that have a bug and won't shape tekst inside a custom shape.

so the tutorial is great and will work for most users
, although some might encounter the same problem as me.

Worked it out, if you have an unpatched version of CS, this feature only works if you have already got some text on the clipboard ready to paste.

Weird Huh! Anyways now we know.

Hey so far the tutorial link that MrHenryDog has supplied is the easiest to follow, but i am still having trouble. When i go to type in the shape my cursor still wont change which wont allow me to create my text in the paths workspace, is there another way that this can be achieved?
I hope i am making myself clear.

Thank you for the help ^-^
