I was just reading a tutorial about Understanding Antialiasing and Transparency, and it said the Antialiasing helps smooth out the edges of text and images, as well as rasterizng? Just wanted to first hand knowledge from anyone who may use these techniques, about why,how, and when if possible

I usually use it on shadows and stuff when given the option.

Here is where you find Anti A in CS. Only on the type tool though. (see below)
Anti A is used automatically in pictures and photos - I believe.
The link is just a screen shot and shows with and without Anti A on a bit of type.

Where to look.

Ok, not the expert here, but nearly all your options under "layer options" will give you the option to anti A or not. But for a better technical answer, why not try skally's schoolyard. (IMG:http://www.hirescovers.net/forum/style_emoticons/default/cheers.gif)
