Just finished this today. I tried to keep the back cover simple and lighthearted like the movie. Used kind of a trippy texture for the back, had to clone off the labels on the bottle and barrel and added a posterizing effect to the barrel. Extracted and fixed the title from the front for the spine. The special features are made up for now. Any opinions or suggestions?

I had a cover idea for this movie. It involved a pint of beer and a camera. I thought it would be cool to have the beer images from front to back.

I think it ended up with me drinking the pint and taking pictures of my feet.

Or move the whole front image up a touch, and put the tag-line at the bottom. (IMG:http://www.hirescovers.net/forum/style_emoticons/default/8824.gif)

that looks much better, could you try making it look like the special features are on the barrel, and i think that would be finished imo

The synopsis in the label on the bottle was a good idea. It needs more to match in with the shape of the bottle imo. Currently it looks like flat on a rounded & slightly hourglass shape bottle. If you look on the front I think that shape is more what you need than the pure oval you currently have. I would also suggest that moving it further down the bottle too would make it more realistic.

I also agree with sauron about shaping the text to look as though it's on the barrel.

I'd also lose the heavy shadow on the "chug of war" line.

Front. I would have suggested moving it down more, rather than moving it up. Any chance you could do that so we could have a look at both idea's?

Lots of idea's here. <--- If only I could tell you how to do it I'd really be helpful. LOL.

Cheers

Okey Dokey, Here we go. Here it is with the front dropped and the tagline back on top. Also dropped down and reshaped the back label to more closely match the front one. I added the pic of the beer mug behind the synopsis but I'm not sure I like it. Warped the text on the barrel a little and added a touch of outer bevel to make it look like its written on the barrel more. Lost the shadow and some of the bevel on the back tagline. How we doin now?

OK. I'm going to back on my earlier response re the front. I think the first effort looks better.

The back is much improved imo.

The label on the bottle looks much more realistic now but I thnk still needs to go even lower & bring the screenies down too, to balance it out.

The barrel, although better, still needs some more work to make the "wrap" more realistic. It's a complex shape being rounded both front to back, end to end & also being set on a 45 degree angle.

Perhaps one of the Designers can help out with how to do this effectively.

I'd also like to see the logo's on the bottom changed so that the bottom of them all sits the same distance from the cover edge. Currently they are a little "up & down" especially the last one.

Good to see it coming along nicely. (IMG:http://www.hirescovers.net/forum/style_emoticons/default/8834.gif)

Cheers

ps. If you are taking votes, mine is for losing the beer mug.

Ok, last revision I think. I lowered the back label and the screens a bit. changed the front back to way it was with the tagline on the bottom. Shrank the beer mug from behind the synopsis to just taking up space on the bottom. straightened out the logos a bit. The special features is about as close as i can get to making it look like its written on the barrel. Anymore warping makes it look too misshapen. Any new suggestions before I up this?
