and does the left edge image look naff? i like the effect .but im unsure about the actual image.

I like the front and spine pic as well, MrHenryDog. (IMG:http://www.hirescovers.net/forum/style_emoticons/default/8834.gif)
But the picture at the back looks to cut out. I do like the idea of it. Maybe put a black background ( in some way). So the picture will become more a live.
I like the screen shots, maybe you can make them bigger.
Hope you can follow this, my English isn't so good.
Cheers. (IMG:http://www.hirescovers.net/forum/style_emoticons/default/cheers.gif)

Looks good but i swear your dvd logo is different to other ones. also i wouldn't have the spine title going down like that.

Thanks:

yes the DVD logo isn't the usual one (IMG:http://www.hirescovers.net/forum/style_emoticons/default/8834.gif)

I quite like the spine title like that but would make it smaller (IMG:http://www.hirescovers.net/forum/style_emoticons/default/8824.gif)

I like the concept, but I note the following

1 - The dvd logos need to be moved down slightly as they are too high.
2 - I would reduce the size of the text on the front slightly, it looks too big as if you are trying to fill space for the sake of it.
3 - The spine title can be either way, I like the second personally but has to be reduced in size.
4 - The back I will need to see advanced before giving a view.

These are just (MO) I like where it is going, but be careful not to expand items just for the sake of filling space, less and careful positioning can be far more effective.

I look forward to the update.

thanks for the input global
heres an update:
dvd logo changed and moved
spine 'vertigo' made smaller
text on front left alone (it wasn't done as a space saver,i was trying to emulate the style of the original theatrical posters.)

the added screenshots are taken from 'colourised 'lobby cards' which i think look kinda cool and look better than if they had been in monochrome.

the only thing to do is credits,(i think ???)and im toying with the idea of hitchcocks silouette somewhere, maybe on the spine?so he apppears to be looking up toward jimmy stewart at the top.what do you think?
oh and does the synopsis sound ok...its a hard film to explain breifly.thinking of making the text slightly larger, andshortening the lines to extend it further down the page(and no lulu i still cant justintimberlake it!)

Looks Super, I would however, use the same DVD logo we all use, arrange the text in back to run along side the filmstrip, and add credits. I'm sure u get the drift. but hey it's a great job, 1st one I've seen of yours, I believe, keep at it.

I think its coming along nicely MHD.

chef makes a good point about the synopsis following the filmstrip,I'd also like that to be j'd. (IMG:http://www.hirescovers.net/forum/style_emoticons/default/8834.gif)
also the legal text at the bottom needs to come up slightly, too low as it is.

ps if you want to justify the text and follow the filmstrip then you can do that by drawing a shape making it a selection and then cutting pieces away to 'mold' it and then you make a work path from the selection type in the text and you're done (IMG:http://www.hirescovers.net/forum/style_emoticons/default/8834.gif) almost. (IMG:http://www.hirescovers.net/forum/style_emoticons/default/SHOCKED.gif)

Yes I know that sounds a bit complicated and long winded but its what I usually end up doing, maybe there's a better/faster way that somebody knows (if you want to try that is). (IMG:http://www.hirescovers.net/forum/style_emoticons/default/8824.gif)

pps There's a tut somewhere for this, maybe in the Photoshop Help section.

Whoops! Didn't mean to put a spanner in the works on this m8. (IMG:http://www.hirescovers.net/forum/style_emoticons/default/8824.gif)

Hopefully lulu doesn't want to strangle me or something worse, anyhow this looks better IMO. (IMG:http://www.hirescovers.net/forum/style_emoticons/default/thumb.gif)
