there would be too many different opinions... there are people that like barcodes...I personally don't like them at all.... site logo? All too subjective.
Wouldn't make any difference Boemba..won't change the way people prefer to make covers
well i tought by the poll we can see what the main public prefers, but it was just an idee

Well, getting a measure of opinion is exactly the purpose of a poll and I think there could be some merit in gathering certain information like the popularity of barcodes.
Like Lulubelle I dislike barcodes but even more I dislike incorrect barcodes.
Another area is the use of Age ratings, whilst many abhor the UK versions the reality is that this site is global so should region specific info be used at all?
I've often thought it would be better for the option to d/l a psd file of the cover with the region and age logos on layers for ease of adapting to the users area.
So, yes I'd would like to see a poll conducted but not for things like site logo though.

A poll in a perfect world would be great but alas this is not a perfect world and we cannot dictate what people place on their covers and labels.
If one wants to put a bar code or age rating on the cover, that is their prerogative.
A poll on this subject would just go on and on and still have no conclusion. Everybody has their own opinions and even if the poll stated that 80% of voters don't like barcodes, it is not going to stop someone uploading covers with barcodes in them.
Sorry to put a damper on it.
It has been a long time. Still two years to go. Have been away a long time and still time to do.....

A poll can never have a conclusion as such and the point is that you can a some stage say 80% prefer this or that, and whilst that may not change the habits/work practices of several cover makers it may be enough for some to adapt their ways to better help that 80% of the community.
So would a poll to see if this poll is needed be pointless?
Rather than a poll, you would be better off starting a thread, asking for people opinions. There are too many combinations to put in a poll. Posts like this have been run before, and the general opinion seems to be if you like retail looking covers, you like barcodes, if you like custom looking covers, you don't. Theres no harm in starting a thread, if you would like to hear peoples opinions, but as I said, a poll has too many combinations of poll questions.

Peter Piper petitioned people to peruse the possibility of perhaps pleasing the people by participating pointlessly in a pointless poll, please.
The key to faking out the parents is the clammy hands. It's a good non-specific symptom; I'm a big believer in it. A lot of people will tell you that a good phony fever is a dead lock, but, uh... you get a nervous mother, you could wind up in a doctor's office. That's worse than school. You fake a stomach cramp, and when you're bent over, moaning and wailing, you lick your palms. It's a little childish and stupid, but then, so is high school.

That's all very well for those who use graphics software which is compatible with Photoshop layering, but I'm sure that MANY others use software such as Paint Shop Pro or the Gimp etc. (in various versions) which may not handle psd files in exactly the same way.
Maybe there's actually a poll in this: "What graphics software do you use to design covers?"
Are designers really going to make covers in multiple OPTIONAL formats? Or we go down Bill Gates road and attempt to force all members to use the same graphics software?
I think not!
