I've started a crimson tide cover. The title font isn't definite, I was just trying an effect. I wondered whether to go with the black or the ink-saving white.

The Widescreen banner is there to hide my lack of skill with the clone tool.

I prefer the black one. To hell with the ink costs! (IMG:http://www.hirescovers.net/forum/style_emoticons/default/8824.gif)

I think you need try again with the clone tool - you'll get there in the end! Much better without the "widescreen" banner. (IMG:http://www.hirescovers.net/forum/style_emoticons/default/thumb.gif)

Nice start Jack. I agree with FB about the banner though. Also the credit block and synopsis text seem a little big to me...keep working on it...should be a nice cover when you are done. (IMG:http://www.hirescovers.net/forum/style_emoticons/default/thumb.gif)

The key to faking out the parents is the clammy hands. It's a good non-specific symptom; I'm a big believer in it. A lot of people will tell you that a good phony fever is a dead lock, but, uh... you get a nervous mother, you could wind up in a doctor's office. That's worse than school. You fake a stomach cramp, and when you're bent over, moaning and wailing, you lick your palms. It's a little childish and stupid, but then, so is high school.

you dont need the clone tool. turn up the contrast on the front poster and darken just a little bit. You can match the blacks that way and never know the difference. Then you can get rid of that banner! There is another way by blending with gradients, but you don't need that right now.

Yeah I prefer the black as well, more fitting for the film imo. It will be a good cover when you've finished

Thanks all.

This is the biggest response I've had I think - must be a more popular title than I usually do.

It's not so much the gradient that stumped me as the red hat in this poster:

http://www.hirescovers.net/gallery/display...e.php?pos=-5468

As you can see it's been covered by the text.

However, perhaps I should persevere. Or perhaps I could get away with blacking it out and putting the title at the top?

Well if you really need to have that part of the hat there, time to brush up on cloning my friend. (IMG:http://www.hirescovers.net/forum/style_emoticons/default/8824.gif)

Thanks:

I have just upped a textless version of the poster, HERE, so you can put the clone brush away for the moment, jack! (IMG:http://www.hirescovers.net/forum/style_emoticons/default/8824.gif) (IMG:http://www.hirescovers.net/forum/style_emoticons/default/thumb.gif)

the ever helpful Mr FB (IMG:http://www.hirescovers.net/forum/style_emoticons/default/8834.gif)

agree with BBB the synopsis needs to come away from the left side and be smaller, and the credits are way too big IMO.

Liking the black version like everyone else (IMG:http://www.hirescovers.net/forum/style_emoticons/default/8824.gif)

Superb, thank you. That poster is absolutely ideal.

Right, I'll go with the black. And don't worry the text is shrinking & moving. I just put it there to make sure this was indeed a WIP rather than a poster with a big, one-sided border.

I played about with a couple of concepts, and ended up with this.

Is this about finished, or should I make changes?

Good work jack. Only thing is the synopsis has an erection sticking out there (IMG:http://www.hirescovers.net/forum/style_emoticons/default/lol.gif) Justfy the whole thing on both sides, bring that screen cap down to compensate for space and you're good to go! Just my 2 cents.

Do you object to me having an... sticky out bit, or was it the size of it that made it unappealing?

(IMG:http://img506.imageshack.us/img506/5323/zzupload2rf9.th.jpg)

Is this one any better, or should I do away with it?

I don't object to sticky out bits on a cover lol. The cover looks smashing as is. Just some prefer the more uniform look. But remember it's your cover.
